Reflection #6: Womens Suffrage
For many years women have been oppressed, left to be serve man in mans
endeavors. Though after being given all the rights that women has received. Are
women around the world truly free? I know the history and the stories of the
womens suffrage movement in 1920. Since then women have risen to power, the
CEO of arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin is a Woman. Walmart is run by a
woman, and women are currently running for the position of president of the United
States. In the United States women have definitely risen to power, and claimed
authority rivaling, even surpassing men. Though, when I think of womens rights, I
tend to think of Southeast Asia.
A land ruled by men and misinterpreted religion. There, women have little to
no rights, and are complete slaves to man. In a land where the border between life
and death are merely inches part, due to terrorism and radicalism. I find it difficult
to understand why such a land exists in modern times. To me it is because of
modernization that we have womens suffrage, gay rights, public education, and so
forth. Though I guess modernism doesnt shed light on every dark corner.
