C3.2.1 Explain how the principles of enumerated powers, federalism,
separation of powers, bicameralism, checks and balances, republicanism, rule
of law, individual rights, inalienable rights, separation of church and state, and
popular sovereignty serve to limit the power of government.
C3.2.3 Identify specific provisions in the Constitution that limit the power of
the federal government.
C3.2.4 Explain the role of the Bill of Rights and each of its amendments in
restraining the power of government over individuals.

Objectives:

Instructions: Welcome to Week 4 of the online U.S. Government course! Please complete the
following activities for this week. Make sure that you complete each activity by the time it is
due. Due dates are located at the end of each activity listed below.
(1) Complete Week 4 Pre-Test. Read Chapter 3 Section 1 (pages 76-79). Create a new
document with your Google Drive account and title it Your Name Week 4
Activities. On this new document you will type out each of the Key Terms and
Concepts for Section 1, as well as their definitions. Make sure to label this section
Ch. 3 Vocabulary Terms: Sec 1. Watch the videos found for Monday. Complete
this activity by 11:59pm Monday of Week 4.
(2) Read Chapter 3 Section 2 (pages 80-83). In your "Week 4 Activities document, type
out each of the Key Terms and Concepts for Section 2, as well as their definitions.
Make sure to label this section Ch. 3: Vocabulary Terms: Sec 2. Watch the video on
Checks and Balances. Begin creating a mind map using Gliffy in which you outline
checks and balances of the 3 branches of government. Complete this activity by
11:59pm Tuesday of Week 4.
(3) Read Chapter 3 Section 3 (pages 85-90). In your "Week 4 Activities document, type
out each of the Key Terms and Concepts for Section 3, as well as their definitions.
Make sure to label this section Ch. 3: Vocabulary Terms: Sec 3. Finish mind map
using Gliffy in which you outline checks and balances of the 3 branches of
government. Complete this activity by 11:59pm Wednesday of Week 4.
(4) Read Chapter 3 Section 4 (pages 91-94). In your "Week 4 Activities document, type
out each of the Key Terms and Concepts for Section 4, as well as their definitions.
Make sure to label this section Ch. 3: Vocabulary Terms: Sec 4. Create a mind map

using Gliffy in which you outline the Bill of Rights. Complete this activity by
11:59pm Thursday of Week 4.
(5) Finish up Bill of Rights assignment with Gliffy. Create blog post and upload both
Gliffy assignments as both images and website links. Visit the Discussion Blog and
answer the questions for Week 4. Review your Week 4 Google Drive document.
Complete the Week 4 Post-Test. Complete this activity by 11:59pm Friday of Week
4.
