I. Teaching

Proposed Plan
Teach classes using innovative and research based practices in the area of reading
and writing with a specific emphasis on CCSS.
Serve as academic advisor for students in the Reading Specialty program.
Interview candidates for the Reading Specialty Program, and follow up on students
who drop out of the program.

Technology was integrated during the 2013-14 school year with my teaching and
with students, my goal is to continue to integrate and share technology tools in the
area of literacy with my teaching and with students.

Train and mentor adjuncts teaching literacy classes at LU, this includes the Reading
Specialty Program and IP program.

literacy.

Participate actively in one professional organization in the area of reading.

Proposed Plan
Review and develop the classes for the Reading Specialty program. Fully review
and develop the syllabi for every class. Create, define and update assignments,
including key assignments, for Reading Specialty classes and distribute to the
instructors. Keep matrices, syllabi charts and program goals up to date on the
shared drive. (Ongoing and continued process)

Review textbooks and supplemental materials for Reading Specialty to ensure


quality in content. Make final decisions on textbook adoptions. Coordinate with
textbook assistant to adopt textbooks for all Reading Specialty classes and to
acquire teacher copies of the books.
Collaborate with Program Director to select adjuncts and schedule classes for the
Reading Specialty program. Create course progression charts for the Reading
Specialty program and store on shared drive. Notify Program director two
semesters prior of courses that should be offered and the number of students
expected in each.
Meet regularly with M.Ed. Program Director to monitor and improve program
quality. Create a FAQ sheet about the program policies.
Collaborate with Program Director and Outreach and Enrollment coordinator to
create and carry out a recruitment and marketing strategy for the Reading
Specialty program. Visit with key thought leaders in the area of Reading in various
districts.
