Project Goal & Needs:
The goal of this project is to create a visual admission process PowerPoint presentation
and an online admission training center. The PowerPoint will be presented in three different
formats: 1) at colleges four campuses during their open house: Alpharetta, Decatur, Dunwoody,
Clarkston, and Newton; 2) Online at the colleges first virtual open house ; and 3) at the online
training center. The purpose of this project is to educated students on the admission process, so
they can apply to the college and know what their next steps are. The targeted audience is
prospective college students. I am creating this project because my sponsor and I see a need of
establishing a visual presentation and a resource center on the college admission process. The
college application process could be long, detail oriented and complex for prospective students.
Understanding the admissions requirements, admission due dates, testing information, and how
to register for orientation can be overwhelming. It is critical that students understand and
complete the admission process to increase the college enrollment. I will create a student friendly
training admission wiki page which will include the admission process. In addition, I will assist

with the development and implementation of the college LIVE open house presentation which
will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd from 6-8:00PM. The presentation will also include the
college admission process.
Scope of Learning
Students will learn the college admission process. The topics that will be embedded with
the learning targets include: How to apply to the college, how to check their admission status,
where to find testing requirements, and how to register for orientation. The sequence required to
meeting the learning target is stated above. My time frame to complete this project is April 21st.
However, the execution of the LIVE portion of this project is April 22nd. The admission wiki
page will be given to all prospective students who signed up for the online open house but were
unable to attend.
Learning Activities
To achieve the learning objectives, I will include the multimedia, redundancy, coherence,
and modality principle. The PowerPoint presentation and training course are designed to help
students apply to the college. The course is designed with the assumption that students
understand the basic used of a computer system. I will incorporate a visual of relevant tool bar by
showing where and how to navigate the website as well as coherence by keeping the lesson
uncluttered. The training will be straightforward by excluding unnecessary material. The
modality principle will be applied to help direct attention to the relevant portion of the visual
directions. This psychological advantage is that the information is being split into two separate
cognitive, the auditory channel and the visual channel. As a result, neither channel will be
overloaded with information. Also, I will make sure not to combined audio and text so that the
redundancy principle will not be violated.
The technology that will be used to facilitate the training includes a wiki page where I
will host the training, Camtasia where I will use to record my audio and computer screen,

Sampson 3

YouTube where I will produce the video, and Glogster where I will include the admissions steps.
The Camtasia software will allow me to edit the video and audio. It will allow me to engage my
audience by producing an interactive video with clickable links and allowing my viewers to
watch it at any time.
The risk associated with using my preferred technology includes those students who have
minimum access to a computer. To minimize this risk, students who will be receiving this
training link are those who registered to attend the online open house. Those students that did not
register to attend the online open house are encouraged to attend the on campus open house
where the same information will be given.
The dependencies associated of using my preferred technology would be to get special
permissions from the college administration. Once the training is developed, approval will start
from the Assistant Director of Recruitment to the director of Admission/Recruitment.
Project Evaluation Strategies
To determine the effectiveness of my training project, I will incorporate a formative
assessment. This will provide constructive feedback on the progress of the project. This
formative assessment will be given to colleague to test the training and adjustments will be made
to reduce unnecessary materials. A summative assessment will be given to students who took the
training to gather information on the final project. I will conduct a quantitative survey study to
evaluate the final project. Method of the study would include:
Procedure
Students will complete a self-administered questionnaire after the completion of the
training. Participant will be informed that this questionnaire is voluntary, anonymous, and
confidential. The survey will be delivered using the web. Information will be collected using
Google Doc response.
Instruments

The questionnaire will be titled How effective was this training which will include the
measurement on Kirkpatricks Training Evaluation Model. For each measurement: reaction,
learning, behavior, and results, participant will be asked to rate the importance of a statement on
a scale from 1= strongly disagreeto 5= strongly agree.
The type of instrument that will be used includes attitudinal measure on how effective was the
training. This instrument will measure the students levels of agreement of the training from
strongly agree to strongly disagree also known as the Likert scale. The scores will be
calculated by summing all the five items from each question.
Analysis and Results
The central tendency will be used to describe the data for each variable. The results will
be reported in a form of a table to summarize the quantitative information. The result will be
given to my sponsor and college administrators.
Design Conceptualizations:
I will incorporate the basic design principles for the design in this project. The tools that will be
used to finalize this project are as followed:
