Tope,
I was not able to send you what I promised due to lack of electricity supply last night; bear with me. So
today I begin by introducing you to the Units Settings. Before you start drawing, you must set your units.
The settings can be categorized into two. Namely,
The primary units is one that must be set before you begin your drawing e.g lengths, angle, direction
etc. while the secondary units is set after the primary units or as you go on with your drawing e.g layer,
text style, dimension style etc. The secondary unit settings are equally important.
PRIMARY UNIT SETTINGS:
1. Units
2. Drawing Limits
UNITS: To set the units, follow the procedure described below,
O! How easy it is. After you successfully complete the above process, your drawing can now begin. But
before we continue, there is another aspect of AutoCAD that is very vital which we must understand. It
is called Layer.
LAYER
Layer in AutoCAD is a system of assigning certain unique attributes to different components of our
drawing. Layer provides a means of organizing our drawing and also making our work presentable. For
example; in an architectural plan of a building, there are different components like walls, doors,
windows, furniture, text, grid lines etc. You can assign an attribute to each component. We can say, let
the thickness of the wall lines be 0.9 mm, let its color be black. Let the lines for door be thin lines, navy
blue color etc.
We are now going to pause here, we shall continue next time from here.
Thanks
Yours Sincerely
OKOLO CHIDI JERRY
