Learning Intentions
By the end of this lesson, students will have had the opportunity to demonstrate their
ability to:
Identify key characteristics of products that help determine the release date.
Order various items from earliest release date to latest release date

Lesson Procedure:
1. Play science kids video about 3D printing.
2. Ask students how this piece of technology will improve our future daily lives
3. Discuss important items that the 3D printer already prints.
4. Inform students that today they will place a variety of photos of products on a
timeline.
5. Tell students they will have to predict the release date based on key identifying
features of each photo.
6. Give students time to study each photo and place it in order of earliest to latest.
7. Have students write key differences of each photo into their books
8. Ask students to come together as a class and watch each group present their
differences and observations about each product
9. Ask students which decade they believe each product was from (once students get it
right allow them to place it on the timeline).
10. Sum up lesson with a class discussion
Differentiation of learners:
To cater for students with needing additional support, the following strategies have been put
in utilised:
Textbooks are differentiated to ability
Assisted support is provided via teacher aide to students who require it
Assessment & Evaluation of Learning:
Students were able to identify key defining characteristics of products and correctly
determine a reasonable release date
Students were able to correctly order their products chronologically.

Teacher Comments:
Students worked really well in this lesson. They were very very interested in the 3D printing
video and although the language was advanced they appreciated the visual of the video and
openly discussed what they saw. Students were very intrigued by the future. The photos
worked well and the history wall is full of technology that students can now recognise and
understand how it affected the people of that era. Overall, a good lesson.
