Main Road Recreaon Ground Lease Signed..

A er campaigns spanning a
quarter of a century, members
of Higher Kinnerton Community Council have finally signed
a 27-year lease with Flintshire
Council for Main Road Recreaon Ground. Community leaders and residents rescued the
site when it was first threatened with development back
in 1990. Its future came into ques on again in 2012 when it was iden fied as
future development land and a second campaign was launched, led by Cllr Steve
Jessop with the support of more than 600 residents. Community council chairman
Cllr Mike Allport said the council was delighted to be signing on behalf of the
community. The longevity of this lease will allow us to apply for grants to add
recrea onal assets to this space, he said. The new assets will complement our
county standard cricket nets and sports pitches which are very popular with the
villagers. The community council plans to apply for Fields in Trust status for the
ground later this year. If granted, it would ensure the site remained a green space
for future genera ons to come Report by Romilly Scragg Flintshire Leader

St Davids Park Gets An Upgrade.

All the focus has been on the Park Avenue Park for the last few years so it was about me we got to
grips with upgrading St Davids Park on Blantern Road. This park is for younger years and new toddler
equipment has been installed in recent weeks. The equipment was chosen in consulta on with the
children of Ysgol Derwen School and has been funded with grants and community funds. The new
benching is excellent and the new equipment is on rubberised safety surfacing. Enjoy!!.. HKCC

Higher Kinnerton Councillor Vacancy

Tai Chi Classes

Community Councilor Vacancy - HKCC would like to recruit a new community councillor
for the ward of Higher Kinnerton. Its will be a two year tenure until all the council elections in 2017. Over the last few years HKCC has changed, with younger members complementing the dedication and experience of the existing council. The result is a progressive and hard working cohort with our communities interests at heart.

A new Tai Chi Remedial Therapy class has now

started at the Village Hall on Fridays at 1.00 to
2.00 pm. Sifu Peter Newton the author of the
new book 'Healthy and Fit with Tai Chi', is
invi ng anyone with who wishes to improve
their health, balance, coordina on and
breathing. Peter is an Honorary Vice-President of the Tai Chi Union for
Great Britain and a prac sing physical therapist. The classes cost 5.00
per session. If anyone wishes to discuss their health with Peter prior to
coming to the class they can contact me on: 01492 549037.

Recent achievements include BKV Awards, MRRG lease resolution, improved and additional park equipment,
development of Bennetts Lane corner, updated newsletter, a community based website and of course this
facebook page and much more. The community charge has remained the same for four years now, so as you
can guess, its all about the effort... interested???... If so, contact Liz@higherkinnerton.org.uk. Or speak to one
of the existing Cllrs for an informal chat.

Higher Kinnerton Cricket Club

Our third league game saw us gain our first win of the season. We
had played two games and although we had not been outplayed
we had lost both matches. Our inaugural game saw us lose to
MPCC at the County Ocers ground 72/10 against 73/3 and then
we lost our first home match to Ellesmere Port Old Boys. Both
teams scored 81 runs but we lost more wickets a aining the total
and so lost the game. Our win was achieved at Boughton Hall
against Chester Taverners, we scored 153/7 with our man of the
match, Andy Spink, unbeaten on 50 and in reply the Taverners
amassed 126/7. An excellent game played in great spirit.
It's onwards and upwards from now on and our next game is at our home ground of Westminster Park
against Handbridge. Anyone who would like to play or get involved or watch us play ring Jim on 660548, Miles
