Manufacturing Prototype

Waco, Texas
State Competition
2014-2015

Product Overview
Description
The childs pull toy that has been designed for this years Manufacturing
Prototype competition is intended to resemble a helicopter. The toy is mostly wooden
with three components being made out of plastic. The toys purpose is to be pulled by
children of any age, down to about two years old or older. The variety of this toy is the
additional attraction that is the propeller. The propeller on the helicopter is able to be
launched upward by the child thus creating a game that can be played by the game
participant(s), either a single child or many children, can then chase after and attempt to
catch the flying propeller, which has been enclosed for safety. The launching action can
be repeated as often as desired or the toy can remain simply a pull toy for the child to
use.

Instructions
For use; fully remove main toy and rip cord component from packaging. Once
removed insert rip cord into the rectangular slot on the right side of the helicopter toy. If
pulling; grasp the orange rope connected to the front of the toy and pull behind the user.
If launching the propeller; place your hand on the back or front of the toy where it does
not obstruct the propeller, grasp the loop on the end of the rip cord, and, after ensuring
you or any other objects are not immediately above the toy, pull the rip cord quickly, out
the side of the toy in a fluid motion. Once the propeller has landed or been caught return
it to the top of the toy and reinsert the ripcord to the side of the toy. Repeat and Enjoy.

Intent
The purpose of this toy is to provide children with a fun pull toy that remains
appealing even as the child grows older. The integration of a flying object has been
made to make the audience age larger and allow multiple children to enjoy the functions
of the toy at one time. We intend to provide a quality pull toy to the consumers of our
product that allows for hours of usage and enjoyment while still being safe for the
younger audience.

Safety
This product does contain an object with the potential to fly which increases
potential risks. For this reason we recommend that this toy is supervised by an adult
when being used as a flying wheel launcher. The propeller has been fully enclosed to
protect eyes and other damageable objects but it is advised that children under the age
of 5 use this toy for its pulling capabilities only. It is the responsibility of the supervising
adult to determine when to allow the child access to the rip cord feature. It is important
that when launching the toy it is held at arms length and no body parts, especially the
users head, are above the launcher when pulled. The propeller is light and should not
damage furniture but use with caution when inside small rooms. Be aware that usage
outside should be supervised for safety of the child. Note that the rope for pulling is a
potential choking hazard as well as the rip chord. All toy finishes are non toxic and lead
free.
