Hello,
I understand that scenarios controls what fields are being updated on new GL table. My question to you is it
mandatory to assign Scenarios to Ledgers in New GL? My understanding was that the New GL tables get
automatically updated when the transaction is processed even if the scenarios are not assigned to the ledger.
Also if a company is not using for instance Segments then even if the scenario FIN_SEGM : Segmentation has
been assigned would it cause any problem.
Kindly clear me on the concept of Scenarios in New GL.

It is not mandatory to assign scenarios.
If you do not assign a scenario, the corresponding field will not get updated. In your example: If you do not
assign the segment scenario, you will have GL values classified as "unassigned" when you run one of the new
GL reports.
I have not tried yet what will happen when you do not assign any scenario. The implementations I have dealt
with usually had at least FIN-CCA (Cost Center Accounting) active. Most common scenarios used were cost
center accounting and cost of sales accounting.
We always skipped the segment scenario, too complicated and not relevant.

not assigned to the ledger.. but the fact is that " the fields like Profit center, segment or business area etc.."
whatever you have made mandatory by way of NEW GL config will not get updated in the FAGL tables..only
when you assign scenarios will this get updated in FAGL tables..
If a company is not using segment or any other object in Scenario.. and if it is updated..the answer is it will not
cause any problem.
