Procedures:
Week 1
Day 1:
Today is the first day of the unit where students will be given the background to what
their projects will entail. Students will be provided with the QR code to an example
project from a student who is presenting her Senior Pathway Project. Students will
have the opportunities to ask questions and review the materials which they will be
utilizing to create their portfolios. Students will then be given a laptop or an IPad from
which to access their Weebly accounts (previously set up). Students will have the
opportunity to create their layout with necessary tabs so that they may upload their
work throughout the unit. Students will be notified that they will be completing career
research essays, career interviews, career cover letter, career resume, an application
(college, job, vocational school etc.) as well as their final presentation on all
information gathered. (Webbs DOK 1)

Day 2:
Today students will be doing the bulk of their research for their career projects. Each
student will be given a print out from their Naviance personality and career surveys.
These will include careers that most commonly align with personality types. Students Logical/Mathematical

will choose a career that they are most interested in, as well as one that is the most

feasible in the real world. Students will utilize Notablitiy in order to begin to create
notes for the career that they are most interested in pursuing. Students will explore
various websites using www.Google.com search engine and begin to compile a list of
sources using the website www.Bibme.org. Students will begin to think about a person
that they wish to interview or job shadow for their upcoming interview assignment.
(Webbs DOK 1) Homework: Students will need to find an individual which they can
interview during day 3 instruction.
Day 3:
Today students will conduct their career interviews utilizing the telephone, email, or
personal correspondence, such as a cell phone. Students will note their findings using
notability. Students may also gather information from Google search engine and
www.YouTube.com videos adding their sources to their working bibliography using
www.Bibme.org. Students will also have found the person they which to interview/job
shadow. Homework: Compile all information necessary to create a detailed essay.

Day 4:
Today students will write their essays utilizing Google Docs, they will share their
documents with the teacher so that necessary revisions can be made. The majority of
this class session will be to utilize the information gathered and compile it into one
cohesive, typed essay. Students will be graded on all the necessary proper writing
conventions. (DOK 2). Student will learn to use the proper formatting for college
grade writing. They will use the information from the notes they have gathered using
Notability. Student will come together to present to the class the information that they
have learned and express which careers they have chosen and why.
Day 5:
Today students will have the opportunity to build their personal resumes. This will
include information that will track their work experience, volunteer experience,
education, skills, and other awards or personal achievements of note. Students will
utilize the Easy Resume Builder Application on either their smart phones or via the
IPads. One goal for this assignment is to gear the resume towards the career that they
have chosen to the fullest extent. Homework: student will make any necessary
corrections to their career essays and their resumes utilizing Google Docs. (Webbs
DOK 4)
Week 2
Day 6:
Students will learn about how to create a cover letter and will design one that matches
the resume that they have completed utilizing Microsoft Word. Students will view
examples via the Internet for business and professional examples of formatting that is
necessary. Students will also begin to think about their personal statement assignment.

Homework: create a script which explains your personal statement and have it
memorized in order to record your video tomorrow. Students will also save images to
their Google Drive in order to access them for IMovie. (Webbs DOK 4)

Day 7:
Today students will work in pairs to record their personal statement videos utilizing
IMovie. Students will take turns utilizing the IPads to record their fellow students
personal statements. Videos should be between 5 and 7 minutes and include the
following information but not limited to: brief life background, favorite subjects,
volunteer work, interview experiences, career exploration information, career paths
which they hope to follow and why, immediate future plans for after graduation. Once
both students have recorded their audio, students will individually work with IMovie to
complete the necessary additions of pictures/media and utilize proper editing to create a
finished product which will be uploaded to www.YouTube.com and embedded into
their Weebly website. Homework: have students speak with their families regarding
their financial situation in order to complete financial aid forms, this includes annual
income, claimed dependents, etc. (Webbs DOK 4)
Day 8:
The task today will be for students to complete a job application and/or college
applications depending on their post-secondary goals. The educator will provide
examples of applications and the information that is necessary to complete them. It is
important that students are through and complete these applications without
informational errors or typos. Students will utilize the website https://fafsa.ed.gov/ in
order to fill out their federal financial aid information. If students are unsure of their
post-secondary educational plans, have students complete local community college
application so they are familiar with the process. Students may work in pairs or
individually.
Day 9:
Today will be spent finalizing final student products and presentations along with dress
rehearsals. Today will be spent placing the final touches on the presentations. Student
can finalize any editing to their personal statements via IMovie. Students will be able
to make sure that all of their documents are properly edited and in the final version
stage, and videos are properly uploaded to their Weebly site and that it is presentable.
Once this is complete students will utilize www.qrstuff.com to create a QR code
making their portfolios quickly accessible. Students will participate in a short run
through of their presentations, dressed appropriately, while other students and the
educator provide necessary feedback and/or suggestions. Homework: students should
run through their presentations at home. This can be in front of the mirror, family
members, or friends.
Day 10:
Presentation Day! The students will present their final product in front of other staff
members as well as several community members who have volunteered to sit in as
panel members. Student will be graded upon their attire, presentation effectiveness,
