A letter of reference for Aaron Shaw: As a B.Ed. Field Placement Supervisor for the St. Thomas University School of Education, I had the opportunity to observe Aaron Shaw during the period of November 3rd to December 19th, 2014. During this internship he taught Grade 6 Math and Social Studies at Nashwaaksis Middle School in Fredericton, New Brunswick; his cooperating teacher was Corrine Gallagher. The most impressive thing about Mr. Shaw is that he always put his students first. This was evident in his planning and his approach in the classroom. He had many students with weak academic skills; he was patient and encouraging as he delivered the curriculum. He often checked to see if they were following his teaching and explained further when necessary. He made effective use of the Smart Board to support his teaching. Mr. Shaw exhibited great respect for his students and he received their respect in return. He communicated very well with his cooperating teacher and was more than willing to observe her effective style and learn from her input. He managed his classes very well. If there was any chatter, he would be sure that it was dealt with so that all of his students would stay focused on the task at hand. He moved around the classroom and gave one-on-one support when necessary. Mr. Shaw always conducted himself in a professional manner; he was careful about his appearance and the way he related to his students. I feel that he has the potential to be a very effective teacher and I have no hesitation in recommending him. If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
