I'm including this piece of work in my portfolio because it's
a project that has been worked on over the span of my
Junior year. It represents my understanding of managing,
organizing, and operating a small business, as well as the
various business functions and strategies that need to be
performed by entrepreneurs looking to own their own
business.
Seeing on as I plan on working in a salon as soon as I
graduate high school through an apprenticeship, creating a
business plan for this career has given me helpful insight as
to how this type of business is operated and the skills
needed that don't partake to the technical skills of this
career.
I improved my writing skills while working on this project,
as you have to write formally and in a business voice,
which is a skill I have never had to use before. I also
utilized my critical thinking skills, as I had to imagine that
I was actually starting my business, and I had to plan for
the future as well as the moment will writing my business
plan.
If I had to do this project over again, I would do more
research about the general location of my business, for not
knowing if I would possibly rent, own, or share a building
with another business would affect my layout and day to
day business operations. However, for the purpose of this
assignment, we were not expected to do this.
