TV Show's entertainment and its drawback

The entertainment offer given by TV companies has greatly increased during the last
decade. The genres that have become enormously popular among the teenagers are,
for sure, Reality TV Shows and Talent Competitions.
The first one consists in capturing real-life situations in a controlled environment
like the infamous Big Brother house or another famed Italian show where
celebrities have to stay on a desert island, with cameras on 24 hours a day.
In thhe second one there are several people showing their talents to judges or a
public audience in order to become famous.
These programmes shouldn't be this popular, even though it's a common opinion that
this is just harmless entertainment. As a matter of fact, it ain't that simple: the
main drawback is the negative influence of these TV Shows on youngsters, which may
start thinking that acting like the freaks they watch in television is an acceptable
social behaviour or that all activities related to arts (like music, dance etc.) are made
just for competition, which is absolutely untrue!
By the way, the viewer isn't the only victim of these shows, sometimes even the
participants can harm themselves, both physically and psychologically.
Probably one way of avoiding all this damages is to make available this programmes
only for a +16 rated audience but many TV companies won't adopt this measure so, I
guess that mocking on the participants will make people understand that what they
watch is made just for fun and that there's no need of emulating their heroes.
