Course Description:

Grading Policy:
I strongly encourage students and parents to check student progress in Power School.
You should know where you stand at all times. If you have any questions about your
grade, feel free to see me. Do not wait until the last week of school to bring up your
grade.
Grading will consist of:
Homework/Binder Checks
Classwork/Warm ups
Graded Assignments (10-50 points)
Quizzes (10-40 points)
Tests (41-100 points)
Final (Comprehensive) Exam (140 points)

70% - 79%
C
60% - 69%
D
59% or below

What you earn is what you get there will be no extra credit opportunities at the end of
the semester so start off strong stay strong throughout this class. AS SOON AS YOU
HAVE A QUESTION ASK! Waiting till right before a quiz/test is irresponsible and will
most likely result in an unsatisfactory grade.
Absences:
Students who have an excused absence from school are expected to make up their
assignments, quizzes and tests. Each student will have the number of days equal to the
number of days absent to complete the missing work. You are responsible to get make
up work from your folder and retain notes from a TRUSTWORTHY classmate. Students
absent on a test day will need to discuss making up tests or quizzes with me upon your
return, the time frame will also be strictly enforced. Assignments, quizzes and tests not
competed within the timeframe will receive a zero and remain a zero. If you schedule a
day to take a test and do not show you will only be able to earn a maximum of 80% of
the points. If you do it again in a semester the second test will be a 0. Note: Until
assignments are made up they will appear as a 0 in gradebook.
Cheating:
Cheating will not be tolerated! Any student caught cheating will receive an automatic
zero on his/her assignment, the parent/guardian will be notified and the student will be
referred to administration. That means NO PHONES before, during, or after tests. We
have classroom calculators so there should be no reason for your phone to be out.

Homework:
Homework will be given on a regular basis, and frequently checked for a grade. If your
homework is not completed, you will not receive full credit. YOUR GRADE IN THIS CLASS
WILL STRONGLY CORRELATE WITH YOUR HOMEWORK PERFORMANCE!!!
NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE GIVEN POINTS!
Graded Assignments are also considered homework points although I will classify
them as graded assignments in grade book. These are basically an overview of what we
have been doing in part of a chapter or a whole chapter; students are usually given some
in class time to work on and the remained will be homework.
Types of homework checks include:
Completion all problems must have work and/or questions about the problem
that I can address in or out of class. Just writing the problem will result in a major
deduction of points.
Homework quiz similar to the old pop quiz but the question will be extremely
similar and sometimes exactly like a homework problem. This is when I want to see
EVERY STEP you would show me on a quiz or test so I can either see where you are
making mistakes and/or you can see how it will be graded.
Accuracy students will be asked to give 5 answers for the homework for the
current chapter.

Each chapter will
conclude with a chapter
test, covering all topics learned within the chapter. Throughout the chapter, it is possible
to be assessed via quizzes, projects, graded assignments, homework, warm ups and/or
classroom participation.
Classroom Requirments:
Be respectful of all students, teachers, and property.
Bring math binder to class daily. You are required to have a three ring binder
to keep all handouts. You may do your homework and take notes on loose leaf
paper that is in your binder.
Bring your homework daily. Not having homework will result in a 0 and no you can
not show me later.
Bring/use pencils. NO pen on tests! I will not grade it.
Ask questions frequently!
In addition to the above, all school rules will be strictly enforced. Please refer to your
student handbook if you have any questions about what is or is not allowed at LPPACS.
General consequences for violating classroom rules:
First offense: verbal warning

Second offense: phone call to parent/guardian

Third offense: phone call home and referral to administration
