Introduction
__10__
mins
Teacher asks children to sit on the floor and that the art topic to be covered today
will be art elements.
Firstly students engage in discussion with the teacher (using hands up strategy)
about they know about the six elements of art. This will allow the children to start
thinking and will provide pivotal feedback for the lesson.
Ask whether there are any other suggestions.
Question: Who can tell me what Texture is? (repeat for each element)
Think, Pair, Share- Pick anyone and get at least three different things.
Demonstrate what and how they will make their element fish.
B.
Development
__45__
mins
Set
children
to
first
complete
background
of
the
sea
picture
to
create
tone
using
the
ink
to
blend
the
darker
and
the
lighter
colours.
Children
must
first
draw
a
rough
pencil
line
along
the
bottom
to
separate
sea
from
sand.
Once
complete,
ask
children
to
collect
their
plates
and
finger
paint
their
plate,
which
will
be
the
body
and
tail
of
the
fish.
(Children
should
write
names
on
each
piece
before
starting).
When
a
majority
of
the
class
has
completed
both
set
tasks,
call
them
all
back
done
on
the
floor
to
ask
if
they
remember
the
main
art
elements
they
just
explored
and
what
they
think
they
may
do
next
and
teacher
explains
task.
Once
sent
back
to
tables,
children
are
instructed
to
apply
a
layer
of
craft
glue
to
the
sand
section
of
the
picture
and
then
sprinkle
over
sand
within
a
tray
(to
prevent
sand
spreading
across
classroom)
Teacher
checks
if
the
paint
on
their
plates
are
dry
and
if
it
is
the
children
are
instructed
to
cut
a
small
triangle
from
one
side
of
the
plate
to
make
the
tail
(this
is
stapled
on).
Again
when
a
majority
of
the
class
has
completed
the
set
tasks,
call
them
all
back
done
on
the
floor
to
ask
if
they
remember
the
main
art
elements
they
just
explored
in
the
last
few
steps
and
teacher
explains
the
final
steps
of
the
art
creation.
Children
will
then
glue
the
fish
onto
the
prepared
background
and
attached
eyes
and
glitter
as
fins.
Finally
the
tissue
paper
is
used
to
create
seaweed
across
the
ocean
floor
of
the
image
to
create
a
full
awareness
of
the
space
art
element.
C.
Consolidation
and
Practice
__3__
mins
Students
can
use
these
skills
for
their
own
pictures
and
future
art
classes.
Similarly
they
could
do
this
with
a
partner
and
practice
their
art
element
knowledge.
D.
Closure
__2__
mins
Ask
children
to
pack
up
all
their
work.
Make
sure
all
the
equipment
needed
for
the
lesson
is
neatly
packed
away
to
the
side.
Ask
the
students
to
sit
in
a
circle
and
ask
them
to
think
about
what
they
have
learnt
and
share
it
will
the
class.
