Upon publishing of Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) defined Rules and Regulations governing the use of such ATYMS systems, Red Light Camera programs would be allowed in Rhode Island, The RIDOT Rules and Regulation have been published and took effect on February 21, 2006, [Reference, Rules and Regulations Concerning Approval and Operation of ATVMS’, dtd January 2006) Upon inception of the Red Light program. the City of Providence partnered with Affiliated Computer Services Govemment Solutions (ACS); through an acquisition, ACS is now a part of Xerox State & Local Solutions, Inc. (XSLS). XSLS is responsible for the administration of the Automated Traffic Violation Monitoring System (ATYMS), the technology used by the program, including: project management, camera installation and maintenance. violation processing, customer service, adjudication support and payment processing, The City has a Program Manager to oversee the vendor and administration of the contract. Following expiration of Xerox's contract, the City of Providence issued an REP on January 22, 2013 for bidders to submit proposals to deploy and operate the Automated Red Light Enforcement System. Xerox was awvarded the new contract which commenced on June 30, 2014 for retrofit of five (5) existing locations and installation of fifteen (15) new locations. The remaining 20 locations will be decommissioned. Upon publishing of Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) defined Rules and Regulations governing the use of such ATVMS systems, Red Light Camera programs would be allowed in Rhode Island. The RIDOT Rules and Regulation have been published and took effect on February 21, 2006.
