17 in public sector, 3 in private sector and
2 in joint venture.
Indian Oil Corporation, had the highest
refining capacity of 54,200 TMTY. All units
of IOC processed 54,649 TMT during 201213 out of 219212TMT (sum of all the
refinery).

Consumption
The estimated consumption of crude oil
has a steady increase from 130.11MMTs
during 2005-06 to 219.21 MMTs during
2012-13 with CAGR of 6.74%.
The maximum use of Natural Gas is in
power generation (34%) followed by
fertilizers industry (28%) and 5% natural
gas was used for domestic fuel.

Foreign Trade
India is highly dependent on import
of crude oil.
More then 70% of its crude oil
requirement is met from import.
Net imports of crude oil have
increased from 99.41MTs during
2005-06 to 184.80 MTs during 201213.
