Testing purpose, function, aesthetics, target market, and safety feature

Used Method: Survey, Interview
I will use survey and interview as my testing method to see how other people think about my
video because they are my target audience. I will get a lot of feedbacks from my peers and
family. I will make a survey to get peers feedback and will interview my parents and sister to
get more feedbacks on my video.

Test 1: Purpose
Firstly, I tested how well I transferred my message and purpose of making this video. I made
a survey to know what other people learned from my video and interviewed my friends and
parents about what message did I get from my video.
The purpose of my design is to
- Make the internet brighter and a place that everyone can enjoy by changing the
keyboard warriors because keyboard warriors enjoy doing the internet and the SNS
with typing the malicious comments but the victim and people mostly do not like
seeing the malicious comments and became unable to enjoy doing the internet and
SNS fully.
- To warn keyboard warriors that typing malicious comments is a bad thing by showing
the real life situations and how other people think about it.
- To tell keyboard warriors that they are not safe behind the keyboard.
Those are the purposes that I wrote on Developing Ideas sections. I tried to achieve those
purposes and I think I achieved most of them but my interviewees will test and share what
they thought on the purposes of making this video. To know what they thought on the
purposes of this video, I will ask about what message they got from this video because this
question perfectly connected with the purposes. I will put this question as my first question
and keep asking them depends on how they answer.

Q: What message did you get from my video?
A: I got that people have different strength and weakness. Some people cant stand being hurt
such as Julie in this video. So, I should act carefully because one of my acts, sayings or
comments led to any negative results.
Q: How will you act carefully?
A: I will act carefully by think before I say, act or write. I will think about how other people
would feel and think if I act of saying that I was thinking of. I think this will help me to
change myself.

Q: What message did you get from my video?

A: Writing bad comments or participating in an event that hurts other people in online can
actually hurt them in real life like Julie did in this video.
Q: Which scene led that message?
A: When Julie was reading those comments on the internet. I absolutely could feel how Julie
feel so I thought writing malicious comments on online actually can hurt that person in real
life.

Q: What message did you get from my video?
A: To be honest, I put a lot of malicious comments on the internet. After I watched this video,
I found that I was a keyboard warrior. When the video said keyboard warriors are people who
think they are safe behind the keyboard, I thought that the video was definitely talking to me.
I thought that I should not write any malicious comments on the internet anymore. I regret
my previous internet using past. I will use good words and write comments that can make
other people feel happy. Those are the messages that I got.

Q: What message did you get from my video?
A: I got the message that although I am anonymous on the internet, I shouldnt say or type
anything that would hurt someone elses feelings, as it can mean something much more to
them; this can lead to serious situations as suicide, I once again learned that everyone
including myself, needed to be more aware of using the internet properly.

Q: What message did you get from my video?
A: I learned that all internet users should try hard to make the internet better and brighter
place. The internet that has no malicious comments and no keyboard warriors!
Q: Which scene led that message?
A: The scene when a lot of SNS pages appeared with full of malicious comments about Julie.
Also, the scene of Julie death because she died because of keyboard warriors and the bad
comments that keyboard warriors wrote.

Q: What message did you get from my video?
A: I thought that we should all think about what we put up on the internet and can it really
hurt someones feelings.
Evaluation: I definitely sure that I reached all of the purposes that I made in Developing
Ideas, because my purpose of the video was to inform that keyboard warriors and writing
malicious comments are bad. And every interviewee agreed with it. Also, some interviewees
said that they should try to make the internet brighter place which I said in Developing Ideas.
Also, one of my interviewees said that she agrees that keyboard warriors are not safe behind
the keyboard. Most of interviewees said that they should be more careful on writing

malicious comments on the internet because it can hurt other peoples feelings.

Test 2: Function
For function, I planned
- To talk about whom is keyboard warriors because I strongly believe most people are not used

to this word. I found that when I was interviewing the people because most of them asked me
who keyboard warriors are.
To talk about why keyboard warriors are bad with showing the real life situation and the
survey and interview that I collected.

I achieved that information by actually putting definitions and real life situation to inform
who keyboard warriors are and how they work. I collected interview and survey data to work
on it.
Evidence:

Evaluation: I can surely say that I achieved my function design specifications because I put
the definitions of keyboard warrior that were collected from my target audience survey to
inform who keyboard warrior is. Also, I talked about why keyboard warriors are bad by
showing the real life situation, Julie story on the video.

Test 3: Aesthetics

I tested how well I achieve my aesthetics design specifications. I also had interview with my
target audience to know how they thought about my video.
My aesthetics design specifications are

My final design looks like a stop motion video.

My final design looks like an animation when I show the real life situation.
My final design will look attractive so many people want to watch and recommend it to their
friends and families so more people can notice and know about keyboard warriors.
My video will be about 5 minutes with a calm song. The real life situation will fit with the
song perfectly.

A: Yes.
Q: Why do you want to recommend it to your friends?
A: I would like to recommend it because this video is interesting and useful. It also has a lot
of good information so other people would learn a lot like me. Id like to recommend it to my
brothers because they are young so do not really know about the internet and how to use
internet correctly. This video definitely is useful to teach them.

A: Yes. I would like to recommend this video to my friends who do not know how about
keyboard warriors.

about keyboard warriors and the problem that keyboard warriors are making nowadays on
the internet.

A: Because this video has good information and meaningful message that many need to

A: I think the video was really attractive because it had a unique topic.

A: I like to recommend it to my friends because a lot of my friends put bad comments on
SNS so they could know the problem of typing bad comments on the internet and SNS.
Q: Was the video attractive?
A: Yes because it has interesting topic and story.

Evidence:

Evaluation: I achieved two of my goals which is looking attractive so many people want to
watch and recommend it to their friends and families so more people can notice and know
about keyboard warriors and having duration of 5 minutes with a calm song. My interviewees
answered that they would like to recommend the video and they found that my video is
attractive. Also, the duration of my video is 5:05 which reaches one of the specifications.
However, my video does not look like a stop motion video and an animation which were on
the design specifications. Also, I said that I will have a calm song for whole video but I had
different songs for each scene. Thus, I reached most two of the aesthetic design specification
and couldnt reach other two specifications.

Test 3: Target Market

As my target market is
- The keyboard warrior
- People who like to type the malicious comments on the internet

People who hurt other people mind by typing malicious comments

People who are becoming the keyboard warriors (people who are in the step of becoming the
keyboard warriors.)

So, I had interview with a person who was a keyboard warrior and changed mind after
watching the video. The interviewee wanted anonymity because this person did not want to
reveal that he/she was a keyboard warrior. We had a deep conversation.

Q: How was the video?
A: The video made me to think a lot. I thought about my past internet using. I did not know
that I was a keyboard warrior when I used to type a lot of malicious comments because I did
not know that it is a bad thing and the result of it. After the video, I could know that typing
malicious comments can lead a bad result. Also, I thought about that what would happen I
watch this video earlier. Because if I watched this video earlier then I would have completely
different internet using.
Q: Do you think that this video changed you?
A: Definitely Yes. The video changed me a lot.
Q: What message did you get from my video?
A: To be honest, I put a lot of malicious comments on the internet. After I watched this video,
I found that I was a keyboard warrior. When the video said keyboard warriors are people who
think they are safe behind the keyboard, I thought that the video was definitely talking to me.
I thought that I should not write any malicious comments on the internet anymore. I regret
my previous internet using past. I will use good words and write comments that can make
other people feel happy. Those are the messages that I got.
Evaluation: I had an interview with one of my target market to see my target markets
thinking about my video. I succeeded with keyboard warriors because my target market
found that my video effective and helpful.

Test 3: Safety feature

The plans for the safety features were
- My design will be safety for the consumer that spread in every age group by not
putting any bad words or informal words because young kids would learn bad things
instead of the badness of keyboard warriors.
- My design will be safe for my consumer by not putting any dangerous context and
adding any dangerous pictures. So every age group of my consumer can read and
watch.
I had an interview and survey on every different age group to test the video is safe or not.

From this interview and survey, I could have many different opinions on safety features of
this video. For age group 8-13, I asked my sister for being my interviewee, for age group 1420, Syafiqah became my interviewee, for age group 21-30, I asked my cousin who live in
Korea to be my interviewee by sending the video in SNS, for age group 31-40, I asked my
uncle to be my interviewee, and for age group 41-50, I asked my parents to be my
interviewees.

Q: What do you think about the safety of this video?
A: When I saw the word WTFJ on the Facebook page that you made, I was so surprised.
However, after you explained me that it is Want the Truth From Julie, I could understand it.
So, I think the video was okay with safety.
Age group 14-20
Q: What do you think about the safety of this video?
A: I predicted that some bad words could appear on the video. And it is a video about
keyboard warriors who type malicious comments so I understand. I think that Want the Truth
From Julie, this idea was good.
Age group 21-30
Q: What do you think about the safety of this video?
A: I thought that on the video, there will be some bad words, but when I saw the Facebook
page, I was so shocked because of the words that you put.
Age group 31-40
Q: What do you think about the safety of this video?
A: I thought the video become realistic because of those words, because keyboard warriors
use more bad words when they put comments on the internet.
Age group 41-50
Q: What do you think about the safety of this video?
A: I was so surprised before you told me the meaning. However I found that the idea is good.
Evaluation: I can say that I could not achieve because all age groups had different opinion on
the safety feature. Some people understood that some bad words could come because the
video is about keyboard warriors typing malicious comments but other people were mostly
surprised on them. Thus, I couldnt reach most of the safety features specifications, but I
think if I did not put bad words and keep the specifications, the video would not look
realistic.
