Create a QR Code Hunt

1. Choose a topic: States and their facts.
2. Identify the standards and write objectives:
-3rd grade Social Studies
2.1. Use various types of geographic tools to develop spatial
thinking
2.2. The concept of regions is developed through an
understanding of similarities and differences in places
-Objectives
1. For students to use the knowledge of the 50 states and
information about them.
2. This would be broken into 5 activities based of the 5 different
regions of the United States (West, Southwest, Midwest,
Southeast, and Northeast. Some of these scavenger hunts will
be shorter than others.
3. Will act as an assessment of the information that students
have learned.

3. Determine how you want students to proceed through the QR code

hunt and what they are to do with the information or what they are to
do at each clue. Describe your method here:
-Students will receive this worksheet (link) or something similar to fill
out. This could be used as a quiz, or as a practice activity.
-Each state will have a QR code that has facts about the state that
have been taught in class, students then have to number the state on
their worksheet to match the QR code and name it correctly.
-The blank map could be of the entire United States or just one
region.
-This activity could be done as one station in a set of stations that is
done in class so that students can share devices.
-Below is the map with the regions (note that Alaska and Hawaii would
be a part of the west region).

4. Write at least 10 questions or prompts: For this lesson I will give

5. Create a QR code for each question/prompt. Copy and paste the QR
code next to each question/prompt above.
There are a lot of QR code generators. Some have colors, some allow many
options, some are just black and white, and some force you to download the
QR code.
This QR code generator allows you to copy and paste rather than download:
