Many thanks to the ongoing
support of our our main
Seniors Team sponsor:

The Woodside Warriors Soccer Club would like to congratulate the U17 girls who
had a well-earned 5-3 win against Hahndorf during the recent cup final.
During the first half the Woodside defence held up strongly with Meg Littler as
sweeper and Alanna Warren in goals doing an excellent job well supported by
Alice and Rosie Hannaford, Holly Snooks and Rose Mason. Mali North, Brianna
Fowler and Azumi Nishizawa kept the ball moving in mid field with Maddy Lind
pushing down the wing and giving us a chance to score.
Lil Hannaford was the first to score following on from a strong corner kick from
Kate Owen. This increased the teams confidence and enabled them to find a
way past the Hahndorf defence, resulting in goals from Hannah Wall and Jordana
Shillabeer.
After the half time break, Hahndorf continually brought the ball into attack and
were rewarded with two strong goals. Woodside settled once again and after a
strong push forward, received a penalty kick in the box which was well placed by
Lil Hannaford.
Some great team passing by Woodside resulted in Hannah Wall getting her
second goal of the match. And although Hahndorf went on to score their third goal
of the game, this wasnt enough and this well fought contest resulted in a 5-3 win
to Woodside. Congratulations Woodside U17 girls

The Woodside Warriors Soccer Club would also like to congratulate the U16 boys
who also beat Hahndorf in the finals, this time by 6-3.
Their coach, Sam Banks could not have asked for a better display of
determination, with all the boys really stepping up with their best performances.
Special mention to Jase Quinlan for scoring 6 goals, and to Eddi Hyder, Riley
Banks, and Michael Bonner for providing up front support, which helped him to
achieve this.
Jackson Liersch, Aaron Banks and Jack Rose were a force to be reckoned with
in mid field with some great running and tackling. In defence we had Tom Gebbie,
Cai Rees, Brayden Schoell and Ben March-Feltham who provided great help and
support to Declan Zeibart in goal.
Unfortunately, Finn Bucco was injured and although unable to play he still played
his part by braving the elements and supporting his team from the sidelines.
The final score was Woodside 6, and Hahndorf 3. The boys were all pretty happy
to come away as cup winners and they should all be very proud of themselves

PITCH UPDATE
Last year the Woodside Rec Ground received funding to top dress the small oval.

We would love to hear from

other club members and their
families, so if you have any
soccer stories and/or photos to
share please email them to

We had all hoped that the grass would have grown through the top dressing by
now but as it was an unseasonably cold April, this just didnt happen. As a result
of this unfortunate situation, both soccer pitches are still too soft and we are trying
to preserve them for games only.

We had been able to use the footy oval prior to the beginning of their season.
However, they need their space back and it is for this reason we have had to take
powwownewsletter@gmail.com the difficult decision to split the training session.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is a less than ideal situation for all of us but we hope you can understand the
predicament we are in.
