Google Earth Lesson Plan

OUTCOMES
- At the end of this lesson, all students will be able to identify
and analyse five historical events by creating a Google Earth
Tour. The content will be 100% accurate and well researched
and the analysis will be thorough.

CONTEXT
Students will be asked to engage in a situational that will
motivate them to complete the task.

Situation:
It is the year 2050 and time travel is finally possible! Horary!
However, time travel is still very expensive. Each Canadian
citizen has been given the opportunity to travel to five
moments in time free of charge.

Technology:
Student will complete this activity using Google Earth.

CHALLENGE
The students are challenged to create a Google Earth Tour
that documents their travel through time.

ACTIVITIES
The students must:
1) Select the five historically significant moments in time
they wish to visit.
2) Document their visit in the forum of a Google Earth Tour.
Each location/time must contain pins, text, images,
narration, links, etc.
3) Defend their travel choices by analysing the importance of
each event/time/location.
4) Present their tour to peers using a video conferencing
software.

FEEDBACK
The instructor will provide feedback through video
conferencing.
Students will have access to mini-lessons/notes/resources
relating to important historical events covered during the
course
