Another side of memory

Everyday was a normal day for Aileen, a good looking girl with a mole on her left cheek.
She was a honor student with the highest score in her grade. Not just only her family,
teachers, classmate, and friends loved her but also everyone who just met or talk to her. She
treated everyone with a good manner. However, she wasnt a perfect girl. Actually she was just
a normal girl who had a bad temper but, she kept it to herself and just pretended to be good.
She stepped into the classroom. And, One of her classmate greeted her.
Morning Aileen. Have you done the report?
Good morning. Yes, Ive finished it last night. She responded to her classmate.
And did you watch the show last night? It was very fun!
She replied Nah, I just slept right after I finished the report. Last night, I was really tired
that I could sleep for the rest of my life!
Cant you just shut your mouth and go back to your seat?! She thought to herself.
Then, the bell rang as the teacher came in the class right after the rang sound, reminded
everyone to go back to their seats. While teacher started to teach, Aileen noticed that there was
something under her desk. It was a plain letter with no senders name. She thought Love letter?
Well, Ill at least read it and definitely reject him as I always done with others.
The bell rang again and lunch break came, she finished her lunch and went back to the
class to read the letter. While she read the letter the girl who greeted her in the morning
interfered her.
Wow! You received a love letter again! Can I look into it once?
Umm, well, you can read it. She answered. So meddlesome!
When the girl read the letter, her expression changed and stunned like a stone.
Whats this? Its not a love letter. She spoke softly and turned back the letter to
Aileen. She read through the letter. It didnt have so much words but she knew that it was
exactly not a normal letter, Strange She thought. It had only few sentences written and some
words were missing Youre invited to---. You only have to accept the invitation or else ---.
Ah ha ha. Looks like someone wants to joke around with me but, I have no time for
that She talked to the girl however, when she looked up, the girl had disappeared. Well,
whatever. She just ignored both the letter and the girl since she had nothing to do with them
and the bell had just rung a second ago. So, she got prepare for the next period before the
teacher came in. The lesson went normally but, it was strange that the girl who recently talked
to her hadnt came back to class yet and also no one asked about her.
Time passed, the last period just finished and the girl didnt come back since that time.
Maybe she just want to skip classes. Who knows. She went straight to the library doing a pile of
homework. Since the schools library was big and there were some books that she could use to
be a reference for her research.
Sigh. So boring! She murmured to herself but there was no way she could deny all of
works. She walked to the library. As long as no one here, she could just back to herself. She
searched some reference books which she needed to use and found the seat to do her
homework alone while she was listening to music.

After she done some parts of research, she felt sleepy. Just for twenty minutes it might
be okay. So, she took a nap for a while but, she fell asleep for a long time that everyone in
library already gone.
When she woke up, she realized that it's 6 in the evening. She was already late for
dinner. She packed up her things to go to home. While she was finishing pack up her belongings,
she felt that there was someone stare at her so she turned around but, there was no one here
since it was forbidden for student to stay late in the school building except for the student
councils and sport clubs.
She walked pass through the book shelves around her and then found a book dropped
on the floor. She picked up and looked at its cover. Hmm Learn your dark side this is
interesting book. I might borrow it someday.' Then, she felt hurt in her head like theres a
hammer hitting her from above. In her mind, she saw herself with the other girl were holding
hands together but, she couldnt see her face clearly. She was curious since she didnt has any
memories of her past and she was stunned.
Suddenly, she heard a loud noise. She thought that the librarian had just left out. She
went to the door ,and it was locked. As she expected, the librarian already locked the door so,
she knocked the door and said
Miss, could you please open the door for me? But no one responded to her.
Then, she heard many books fell from bookshelf and running footsteps.
Whos there? said Aileen.
She saw something or it might be someone behind the bookshelf but she couldnt see
because of the darkness. She became a bit scared but, she had to find the way out. She
remembered that there was an alternate key in the librarians table. She found it and directly
reached to the door. While she unlocked the door, she had a strange feeling that something
came closer to her. She tried to get out of this place as soon as possible.
And the door suddenly opened itself.
She wondered Huh, a moment ago its locked and now its just open itself easily. Whats
up with this door?
After she took a step out of this library, she recognized a piece of paper on the floor.
Ive found you. Oh not again! Is this a prank? She complaint but there was a noise replied to
her.
Nope, its true
Whos that? Come out!
It remained silence that she could hear the sound of wind.
Geez! I wanna go home now! She was very upset and remained suspected.
When she walked down along the stairs, the creepy hands grabbed her legs.
Get out of my legs! Get out of my legs!!!! She screamed and tried to shake the hands
off her legs. Eventually, she could shake the hands off but her feets slipped off made her fall
down the stairs.
FA-THUD. She lie down on the floor with some scratched.
As she looked back to the stairs, there wasnt any hand came out but, she saw a lot of
eyeballs that have bleeding gazed upon her. She was frighten and about to move but her legs
went against her will, because of the accident. Tsk! Why now? This is the worst! Her vision
became blurry and darker as she lost her consciousness.
Aileen was in a subconscious state. In her mind showed the flashback again. She saw the
one from library that she held her hand with the other girl and then the scene changed into
hospital that herself lie on the bed in worse condition. Aside the bed showed her parent
discussed about something. And the scene suddenly changed again. This time she was found an

invitation letter and then back to the accident that she fell from the stairs but she tried to stand
up and ran away. As she rushed to the front of the school building, she saw a girl stand there.
She reached to the girl and said.
Why you are here? Its very late. You have to go home now! Its very dangerous here!
And so, we meet again. The girl said it lightly that Aileen hardly heard it.
Huh, what did you just said? Aileen told the girl to repeat what she had said.
The girl slowly turned back to her and she was totally shocked because of the girls
face... was similar to hers.
Several minutes passed, Aileen opened her eyes and woke up with a fright. She gasped
for breath. What a bad nightmare. But its just a dream so it cant be true! She regained herself
from the pain and then she felt that the surrounding atmosphere has changed. She found
herself was sitting on the same seat in library. Wait! Why am I came back to here and how?!
She noticed that theres a letter with her name on the table. She took and opened it.
Lets play the game! If you win, Ill let you leave if not--- . Well play hide and seek for
fifteen minutes. Ill be a seeker and you can hide wherever you want and you can change the
places youll hide yourself from me. Lastly, DONT try to escape. If I know then, youll lose.
Fine! Ill definitely win and end this game as fast as possible. I waste my time too much
here. She thought and went out of the library. She started to ran as fast as she could like a
marathon to find a place to hide. Actually, she was very scared from what she had read in the
letter but she kept this feeling in her because she really wanted to get out of this place now.
At first, she thought she would hide in one of the restroom in fifteen minutes but she
heard the sound of footsteps. TACK, TACK, TACK. So, she waited until the sound of footsteps
went far away from her and changed the place to hide.
As she came out, she found the footprints on the floor and she ignored it. She didnt has
a doubt that the footprints had the same size as her feet.
For the rest of the game she hid in the classroom and later, there was someone opened
the door then left again and she waited until the sound went far. Her heart beat so fast that it
would come out from her chest.
In the last two minutes, she thought that she might escape before the seeker notice.
She didnt know that what had said in the letter could be trust or not. So she started to escape
and yet she saw a pictures on her desk. It was a pictures of her and the other girl in her dream
but, this time her face was shown. The girls face was same as hers but, she has a mole on her
right cheek which opposite to hers.
She felt hurt in her head again and her past memories overflowed in her mind. This
reminded her that she used to has a twin sister. Aileen herself was a energetic and cheerful girl
and her sister was opposite to her. She was a shy and fragile girl. She often got sick and
sometimes had to stay in her house so she didnt has many friends. They promised that even
though everything would change in nearly future, they would always be together. She loved her
so much but then everything turned upside down. When secondary school started, her sister
became weaker and she rarely came to school due to her sickness. While Aileen met new
friends, she was left alone in the house. She became jealous of Aileen and they had a conflicts
everyday and became a fight. Aileen accidentally pushed her down the stairs and the girl pull
her along so they fell together. Unfortunately, her sister died and gone forever. However, Aileen
survived but she got traumatic brain injury that was why she couldnt remember what had
happened with her past memories.
Aileen stunned like she became paralyze, her hands were shaking while she became
afraid of the surroundings and even herself.
So, thats what happened to me. the voice from behind said to her.

She turned back and saw the girl who was in the picture and then her sight became
blurred as it blackout.

... Oh, yes. Does it smell bad that you noticed it?
Noooo! I didnt mean that. I think its more fragrant.
Ah, Thanks. Im relief.

While the girl was turning back to her seat, Aileen smirked.
