Language Objective: speak using grade-level content area vocabulary in context to


internalize new English words and build academic language proficiency;

Students will learn new content vocabulary for the weather in Spanish, teacher would also
provide an assessment at the end of lesson. Once that is done teacher will provide pictures of
different types of weather such as sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy, and windy in which students will
have to match the vocabulary terms with the pictures. Students will work in pairs, she or he will
also pair a student that maybe more proficient English with one whom may be a beginner to
complete activity. Students will then compare orally their matching activities with other groups
on order to make sure they completed the activity correctly. Students will also discuss the
meaning of each vocabulary word by bridging or transferring what they learned about the
concept of weather and the academic vocabulary in Spanish.
