Steam Turbine
Description
Function and Construction
Emergency stop valves (ESV) are quick closing
valves between turbine and steam generator. One
Emergency Stop Valve and one HP Control Valve are
combined in a common body with their valve spindles
arranged at right angles to each other. The stop valve
can rapidly interrupt the supply of steam from steam
generator to the turbine. The HPcontrol valve controls
the steam flow to the turbine according to the
prevailing load.
Emergency Stop Valve
The emergency stop valve is a single seat valve
with integral pilot valve. Steam enters via the inlet of
the valve casing (2) and remains above the valve
cone (7) when the stop valve is closed. A pilot valve,
integral with the valve spindle (6) is provided for
relieving, thereby reducing the force necessary for
opening. The valve cone (7) slides in the bushing of
the valve cover (4) and has a bead on the back which
lies against the base bushing (5) and provides
additional sealing at this point when the valve is fully
open. Valve spindle is secured against
rotation.
Metal packing bushes (3) seal the valve spindle.
