Battle of the bands

Objective:
To have students work together as a group to create music with percussion instruments
Materials:
Percussion instruments- pitched or unpitched or could use body (stomp, or clap)
Procedure:

Break class into groups

Hand out instruments

3.

Have children plan out a 12 measure song

4.

Have the students perform for each other at the end of

Have a group discussion on each group

0-69 Novice
70-90 Meets standards
90-100 excels standards
Assessment:
Teacher will observe if the students use certain poly rhythms
Teacher will observe if the group has used rhythm effectively.
