The stacking function connects multiple stacking-capable devices together to logically function as one device. Up to five , S2750EIs, can be connected through stack cables in
a ring or chain topology. Up to nine devices of other models can be connected through stack cables in a ring or chain topology. All stacked devices logically function as one
device to forward packets. There are three roles of devices in a stack: master switch, standby switch, and slave switch. All of the three types of switches are called member
switches. The Ethernet switches in a stack function as one device. You can manage all the switches in a stack by using the master switch.
Context
A stack can be set up using service interface connections or stack card connections.
The following models support service interface connections: S2750, S5700-P-LI (with GE uplink interfaces), S5700-TP-LI (with GE uplink interfaces),
S5700-X-LI (with 10GE uplink interfaces), S5720-C-EI, S5720-X-EI, S5720-PC-EI. The stacking function is not supported on the S5700-10P-LI-AC and
S5700-10P-PWR-LI-AC in the S5700-P-LI series (with GE uplink interfaces).
NOTE:
A stack of S5700-52X-LI-48CS-AC switches cannot be managed by the web-based network management system.
The following product models support stack card connections: S5720-C-EI, S5720-X-EI, S5720-PC-EI, S5720-P-EI.
When a switch attempts to set up a stack with a switch enabled with the stacking function but the stacking-enabled switch has some configurations that the stack does
not support, the new switch cannot join the stack and the system displays a message indicating that some configurations are not supported by the stack. As a result, the
new switch cannot be added to the stack. The new switch can be added to the stack only after these configurations are deleted.
Before the stack is established, each switch is an independent entity. Each switch has its own IP address and functions individually. Therefore, you need to manage each
switch separately. After the stack is established, all the member switches are presented as one unified logical entity. In this manner, you can manage and maintain all the
member switches in a stack by using one IP address. The stacking protocol elects the master switch, standby switch, and slave switch in a stack. Then, data can be
backed up and the active/standby switchover can be implemented.
Procedure
Configure the stack.
1. Choose System Management > Stacking in the navigation tree to open the Stacking page, as shown in Figure 1.
NOTE:
The actual display varies depending on the device model.
Figure 1 Stacking
Description
Indicates the topology type of the stack. This parameter cannot be set.
Indicates the MAC address of the stack. This parameter cannot be set.
Stacking
Indicates the delay of MAC address switching. This parameter takes effect after the
device is restarted.
After a switchover occurs between the master and slave switches, the MAC address of
the stack is switched to be that of the newly-elected master switch if the previous
master switch does not rejoin the stack after the switchover times out.
The MAC address switchover time of any member switch in a stack is the same as that
of the master switch.
NOTE:
By default, the MAC address switchover timer is disabled. The system performs
the MAC address switchover immediately after the active/standby switchover
occurs between switches.
If the value of the MAC address switchover timer is set to 0, it indicates that
MAC address switchover will not be performed.

Description
Indicates the stack ID. This parameter takes effect after the device is restarted.
Stack IDs can be configured before or after the stack is established. By default, all the
stack IDs of member switches in a stack are 0. If stack IDs are not configured for
member switches before the stack is established, the stack assigns stack IDs to member
switches after being established. After the stack is established successfully, all the
configurations of the stack can be performed on the master switch only.
Indicates the priority of the stack. This parameter takes effect after the device is
restarted.
The stack priority can be configured before or after the stack is established. If the stack
is established, this parameter must be set on the master switch; otherwise, it is set on
each switch.
2. Click the icon, the Configure Stack Interface page is displayed, as shown in Figure 4.

Networking Requirements
When you cannot remotely log in to the Huawei switches, you can perform local login through a console port. If you log in to the device through a console port, only
password authentication is required. To improve security, use AAA on the console user interface. We use the Huawei S9303, S5700-52C-EI for the test.
Figure 1 Networking diagram of user login through a console port
Configuration Roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1. Use the terminal simulation software to log in to the device through a console port.
2. Configure the authentication mode of the console user interface.
NOTE:
You can use the built-in terminal emulation software (such as the HyperTerminal of Windows 2000/XP) on the PC. If no built-in terminal emulation software is available, use
the third-party terminal emulation software. For details, see the software user guide or online help.

Procedure
1. Use the terminal simulation software to log in to the device through a console port.
1. Insert the DB9 connector of the console cable delivered with the product to the 9-pin serial port on the PC, and insert the RJ45 connector to the console port of the
device, as shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2 Connecting to the device through the console port
1. Start the terminal simulation software on the PC. Establish a connection, and set the connected port and communication parameters.
NOTE:
A PC may have multiple connection ports; therefore, the port connected through the console cable is selected in this example. Generally, COM1 is selected.
If the serial port communication parameters of the device are modified, modify the communication parameters on the PC accordingly (ensure that the parameter values are the
same) and re-establish the connection.
1. Press Enter until the system prompts you to enter the password. (The system will prompt you to enter the user name and password in AAA authentication. The
following information is only for reference.)
2. Login authentication
Password:
You can run commands to configure the device. Enter a question mark (?) whenever you need help.
1. Configure the authentication mode of the console user interface.

Networking Requirements
As shown in Figure 1, GE0/0/1 on the switch connects to hosts through the Huawei LAN Switch (LSW), such as Huawei S5700, Huawei S2700. GE0/0/2 connects to a
server. Requirements are as follows:
GE0/0/1 belongs to VLAN2 and GE0/0/2 belongs to VLAN3.
Dynamic ARP parameters should be configured for VLANIF2 of the switch so that packets are transmitted correctly regardless of network typology change.
To protect the server and defend against attack ARP packets sent from bogus servers, a static ARP entry is added to GE0/0/2 of the switch. In this ARP entry, the IP
address is 10.2.2.3 and the MAC address is 00e0-fc01-0000.
Configuration Roadmap
The configuration roadmap is as follows:
1. Create VLANs and add interfaces to the VLANs.
2. Set dynamic ARP parameters for the user-side VLANIF interface.
3. Configure a static ARP entry.
Procedure
1. Create VLANs and add interfaces to the VLANs.

Characteristics
The SmartAX MA567X series products provide users with access to multipleservices, such as GE-to-desk, POTS voice, fax, wireless office, and video surveillance
The SmartAX MA567X series products support the configuration for anti-DoS attack, filtering based on MAC addresses, IP addresses, or uniform resource locator
(URL) addresses, and firewall and ONU access control rules, ensuring secure and reliable application
The SmartAX MA567X series products support TR-069/ONU Management and Control Interface (OMCI)/OAM management modes. In this manner, terminal services
can be managed without deployment of additional IP networks.
The SmartAX MA567X series products support ONU service issuance in batches and network adjustment. After being powered on, an MA567X series device is
automatically upgraded.
The SmartAX MA567X series products support remote fault location through the NMS by reporting alarms and remote loopback diagnosis results. Therefore, O&M
personnel can locate faults
Without visiting sites, which reduces O&M costs.
