ABSTRACTS
Adherence in Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) can reduce adverse drug effects
and increase the quality of life in opioid dependents. Personality is important in adherence
behaviour but there are still limited study about the influence of personality on adherence in
MMT. The aim of this study is to determine whether personality has an infuence on
adherence to patient in MMT. This study was cross sectional analytic approach. The
population of this study was patients administered to patient who were registered in
Methadone Maintenance Treatment in Hasan Sadikin General Hospital and did the urine test.
The data of clinical personality pattern was taken from the highest personality scale in The
Millon Multiaxial Clinical Inventory III (MCMI-III) clinical personality list and the
adherences data in March was taken from the medical record. Total samples are 39 consist
of 7 personality patterns. The influence was examined using Kruskal Wallis Anova. There
was no influence of personality in MMT adherence (p=0.3941), Employment status had no
influence in MMT adherence (p= 0.7539) but education had an influence in MMT adherence
(p=0.03). These finding implicate that MMT staff should pay more attention in patients who
were not well educated to get better outcome. Personality pattern has no influence in meaning
so staff should evaluate another traits to increase adherence in MMT.
