- 2.6 Receiving Drills under simplified conditions

Teaching Points:

Slowly increase the distance between the


partners (2m 4m 6m)

Two players are holding a ball each

Drill Objective:
Focus on the contact location on the
ball and spatial orientation

Drill Description:
A and B are standing face to face, but
displaced to each other. They
simultaneously place a straight pass
across the court. Both players have
to move sideways in order to bumppass it back to their partner again. It
is recommended to use the courtlines as orientation support. How
many bump-pass repetitions can the
partners manage to achieve?

To ease the drill it is possible to


start with catching the ball with
both forearms
The partners are standing
vertically to the net
The partners take up their
positions on both sides of the
net; the effect is that the
partners always have to cross
below the net to bump-pass the
ball to their partner
