LESSON PLAN

FORM : 4 Cemerlang

Date:

13.06.2015
LEVEL: intermediate

time:

2.00 pm
THEME: TOPIC:- Chapter 2: Forces and Motion
Subtopics: 2.10 - Work, energy, power and efficiency

OBJECTIVE: understanding work, energy, power and efficiency.

LEARNING OUTCOME:At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
1) Define work (W) as product of an applied force(F) and displacement(S) of
an object in the direction of the applied force i.e. W=F.S .
2) Define kinetic energy and state that that E k =

mv

3) Define gravitational potential energy and state E p = mgh.

4) State the principle of conservation of energy.
5) Define power and state that P=W/t.
MORAL VALUES: save the energy and safe the earth.
EDUCATIONAL EMPHASIS: Thinking skills
INSTRUCTIONAL AIDS: Marker pen, handouts, picture and speaker.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

: Students have learned about subtopic 2.8 which is

understanding gravity.

TEACHING PROCEDURE
STAGE
SET INDUCTION
(5 MIN)

DEVELOPMENT
(20 MIN)

INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITY
1) Teacher greets the students
2) Teacher plays the music of
situation at theme park.
3) Teacher selects 3 students to
guess
where
this
sound
happen.
4) Teacher tells the students the
correct answer and give the
candy
to
students
that
answered correctly.
5) Teacher asks the students who
has been go to theme park.
6) Teacher asks a student to tell
her/his experience at the
theme park.
7) Teacher relates about the
theme park with what we learn
today.
1) Teacher writes the topic on
whiteboard.
2) Teacher defines the work done
as the product of an applied

S and write

S =

F S cos

force i.e W= F
W = F

LEARNING ACTIVITY
1) Students

2) Student listen the
music.
3) Student

4) Student
respond
with the teacher
question.
5) Student tell his/her
experience.

1) Students listen and take

notes
about

explanation.

on the white board.

3) Teacher explains more detail
about the definition of work
done
by
given
some
examples : Teacher push the table.
Teacher
explains
the
situation when no work
done by ask the student
to push the wall.
4) Teacher states two types of
energy
which
are
kinetic
energy and potential energy.
5) Teacher defines kinetic energy
and potential energy by paste

2) Students focus with the

teacher demonstrate.
3) Student go toward the
wall and push it.

4) Student participate with

the explanation.

the paper on the white board.

6) Teacher explains more detail
about

and mgh by

state m is mass, v is velocity, g

is gravity and h is height.
7) Teacher pastes on whiteboard
and explain the definition of
principle of conversation of
energy which is "Energy can
neither
be
created
nor
destroyed". Another approach
is to say that the total energy
of an isolated system remains
constant.
8) Teacher gives example to the
students with explain the
situation the car climb the hill.
9) Teacher pastes the picture of
hill.
10)
Teacher
demonstrates
the car going down the hill.
11)
Teacher
explains
the
situation: When the car at the top
the gravitational
potential energy is
maximum.
When the car at middle
between bottom and top
the kinetic energy and
gravitational
potential
energy are equal.
When the car at the
bottom the kinetic
energy is maximum.
12)
Teacher
defines
and
state power is the rate at which
work is done, p=W/t or E/t by
paste on the whiteboard.
13)
Teacher explains the p is
power, W is work done, E is
energy and t is time.
14)
Teacher
gives
the
example to student by asking
why when you are running step
up the stairs, you became
more tired compared when you
are walking although at the
same distance.

5) Students involve with

the explanation by give the
opinion.

6) Students focus and take

important notes.

7) Students respond with

the teacher question.

8)

the

9) Students participate
with the discussion.
10)
Students
focus
answering the practice
sheet.
11) Students answer the
practices.
12) Students focus and
take notes the teacher
comment.

15)
The teacher explains
the situation by relate power
with time.
16)
Teacher gives students
example and practice sheet.
17)
Teacher discuss with the
students the example sheet.
18)
Teacher gives students 3
minutes to the student to
answer the practice sheet.
19)
Teacher selects students
to answer that practices.
20)
Teacher checks the
students answer and comment
(if there is) to student.
Conclusion
(5 min)

1. Teacher asks students about

the learning today.
2. Teacher revise the all-important
about this topic(work done,
energy,
the
principle
of
conservation of energy and
power)
3. Teacher gives motivation to
students.
4. Teacher end up the class with
doa.

1) Students point out their

learning today.
2) Students focus and take
notes.

3) Students recite the doa.

FOLLOW - UP ACTIVITY: Teacher asks students to do revision and more exercises.
