Profile
I graduate from a Journalism degree from the University of Portsmouth in July 2015.
As a student I have developed valuable industry skills and gained a good
understanding of the various media laws. This has also been combined with work
experience in the industry so I can practice the essential skills in a professional
situation.
Experience

I am currently part of the Radio Jackie News Team after completing a series
of successful work placements.
Working as part of the news team has demonstrated my flexibility when
interview a range of people from members of the local community to
politicians and sports persons.
Working with and interview members of the local community and promote
their stories by social media.
As part of the news team it was my role to select stories that the audience
want to read on the website and how to adapt them for broadcast.

Pure FM
2013- 2015

I was Head of News for Pure FM. This role involved looking after a team
to produce regular news bulletins and setting up links with the local
community.
Being Head of News at Pure meant I was responsible for large news team
to help live tweet events such as Varsity, the sabbatical and General
Elections as well as making sure the news was regularly updated.
I have used social media to break stories ahead of our competitors to
increase listener figures and increase the stations exposure.
I also engaged myself in other aspects of the radio station, such as
marketing to have a more comprehensive understanding of a radio station.

Express FM
May 2014- Present

I host and co-host the Football Hour on Express FM. This has allowed me to
acquire valuable skills when engaging with the public. As the host, I had to
select relevant news that relate to the listeners and as a co-host maintain my
side of the debate and retain a rationale opinion.
I worked for Express FM as part of their news team covering the European
and Local Elections. During the Elections I showed confidence to conduct
interviews live on air.
When interviewing the candidates, I was able to demonstrate my versatility by
quickly being able to adapt the questions according to the answers that were
received.
After less than a year with the station, I was nominated for new comer of the
year award.

Give Me Sport
December 2013 and June 2014

Working for Give Me Sport has given me experience of producing articles for
an online publishing company and produce articles to generate the maximum
number of hits.
I was able to demonstrate that I can work under pressure to generate content
quickly, to increase revenue for the website.
Currently I am on the highest level of the Give Me Sport writing academy.

The Galleon (Portsmouth Student Newspaper)

December 2014- May 2015

submitted by the writers to ensure the issue was at the highest possible
standard.

learned to generate more traffic for the website.
