Fiona Tan was born in perkanburu in Indonesia in 1966. She
is well known for her photography, film and video
installations, though she was was raised in Austraila she
currently lives in Amsterdam. Fiona Tan primarily works in
film and photography. Her art often explores themes of
history, identity and memory.

I wouldnt say my installation is simialr to Fionas because her
style is very different to to what mine will look like. My

Biography
Bill Viola (born 1951) is a contemporary video artist. He is
considered a leading figure in the generation of artists whose artistic
expression depends upon electronic, sound, and image technology
in New Media. His works focus on the ideas behind fundamental
human experiences such as birth, death and aspects of
consciousness.

Bills installation work tend to look very old fashion where as mine will
look modern so I wouldnt compare my installation to his work.

Why?
I will be using speakers because both the productions I will have on show have a soundtrack that will

Technological convergence
What is technological convergence?
Technological convergence is the tendency that as technology changes, different technological systems
sometimes evolve toward performing similar tasks.

Will you be using this in your installation? I will only be using one technological system which
will be a laptop.

I am only using one because I am onlt hsowing a video so I wont be using technological

Director
Describe their job.
Directors are responsible for the look and sound of a production and its technical standards. They
work closely with Producers and/or Writers, enhancing, refining and realising original ideas into
finished programmes. They are responsible for ensuring that the final programme is faithful to the
original concept. They must be able to push boundaries while remaining in total control of their
material.

What skills do they need to do their job well?


be able to translate creatively a writers, Producers and other originators' vision into a coherent,
marketable, entertaining or informative programme
understand all aspects of television production and post production processes
be aware of and value the contribution of all crew members to the creation of the final programme,
and be able to work with them effectively

Describe their job.
Producers have overall control on every aspect of a film's production. They bring together and
approve the whole production team. Their key responsibility is to create an environment where the
talents of the cast and crew can flourish. Producers are accountable for the success of the finished

film. They steer the film from beginning to completion and beyond

Model makers are responsible for building the models used to enhance sets or to replicate
structures in miniature. For example, they may need to construct a nine-inch high replica of the
Great Wall Of China, or make miniature copies of large cities for the Visual Special Effects unit.
Model Makers create models that bring to life the ideas of Production Designers, Props Masters
or the Visual Special Effects unit

Describe their job.
Set designers create the overall look of a theatre, television or film production. In the film and
TV industry they are often known as production designers and in the theatre asstage designers.
If you are good at drawing and model making, and you want to work in film, TV or theatre, this
job could be perfect for you

Storyboard Artists take a screenplay and turn it into a series of illustrations, like a comic book.
This helps the Director get a clear idea of exactly what they want to achieve and shows whats
needed, e.g., prosthetics for make-up, Computer Generated Images (CGI) for visual eects,
props for the Art Department, etc
What skills do they need to do their job well?
have basic technical knowledge of lm cameras and lenses

Lighting Director
Describe their job.
Lighting Director is the most senior role in television lighting departments. It is their job to use
the script or brief from the production team to design the specific look required for each shot.
They use their advanced technical skills to realise the design and, with the help of the rest of the
lighting department, to set up and operate specialised lights and accessories

during shoots to produce different lighting effects
