Objective:
You will be able to explain how to move from one point (the origin in this case) to another
ordered pair (point).

Your feet are going for a midday snack. Video your steps starting from your bed (the origin) to
the Refrigerator?
Directions:
1. Visit Teaching Kids about the Coordinate Grid to learn more about the how to move from
one point to another.
2. Use an Ipad, cellphone, or any recording device to show each step once each feet are flat
on the floor in walking position.
3. Record each step counting each one aloud. As you count tell us if you are going up
(ahead) , left, or right.

Assessment:
Record a 2-5 -minute video for your classmates detailing how many across (left or right) and up
steps you need to get from your bed to your refrigerator. Be sure to only count steps, not
standing positions.
You will receive up to 10 points for your effort.

Format:
Sketch a map on a coordinate plane
Topic:
You want to show how to get to sporting Goods (-7, -5).
Directions:
1. Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlT726odQcM watch the video on Graphing
Ordered Pairs.
2. Visit http://www.webmath.com/gpoints.html practice typing ordered pairs and see how
they are graphed on the coordinated plan.
3. When on the website above be sure to put the ordered pair into parenthesis then press
draw (x,y). You will then see how the point is graphed on the X , Y axis. Practice this
several times to get a good understanding of how ordered pairs are graphed. Be sure to
input (4,3) as well as (-7,-5).
4. After practicing with the video use the coordinate paper provided to sketch Sandy a Map
be sure to include landmarks of the departments she passes to reach (-7,-5)
