From Fearful to Brave (The Story of Peters Transformation)
Lesson: God can take away my fears.
This lesson will detail the life of the apostle Peter, as an apostle of Christ and as the rock by which the Church of Christ was founded. The crux of the lesson will show Peters transformation from a fearful man who denied Christ, to a brave man who preached the Gospel after Christs ascension. Peter was always vocal, giving brave promises to Christ, but fails to deliver them because of his fears. This was showed many times during the Gospels: he tried to walk on water but became fearful of the waves, he ran away during Christs arrest and denied Christ three times, despite promises of loyalty to the point of death, because he feared for his life. Things have changed, however, for Peter. He became so brave that he faced death many times for Christ. He was no longer fearful. He faced the Pharisees and endured whippings and threats of death from overzealous Jews. He also went against Jewish tradition by mingling with Gentiles, visiting Cornelius, a Gentile, after getting the vision at Joppa. Finally, he faced the Roman Empire and was imprisoned multiple times. Peter did these things, all for Christ. Our God is a God that can change lives. The God that changed Peter is the same God that can change our lives.
