Between social (in)justice and addiction

In recent years, stories about increasing numbers of people being addicted to alcohol,
drugs and even gaming have inundated our newsfeeds. One cause of this is the
increasing proliferation of social injustice in societies.
Social Injustice refers to the perceived moral unfairness of the distribution of both
rewards and burdens to people. Of course, this definition, owing to the subjectivity of
what is morally unfair, may express itself in varying forms, from issues like wealth
inequality, discrimination, and oppression. Social injustice and Addiction go hand in
hand. Often addiction represents an outlet for people to get over whatever injustice
they may have perceived. In this essay, I will tackle the relationship between
addiction and the social injustice that both causes and results from it.
