PURPOSE 25 The policy is established to provide guidelines and procedures for the administration of the Research Excellence Award. POLICY Far Eastern University Institute of Technology gives recognition to Associates and Departments who have contributed to the Institute’s pursuit of Research Excellence. DEFINITION OF TERMS 3.1. Institute “Institute” refers to Far Eastern University Institute of Technology. 3.2, Academic Associates “Academic Associates” or “Associates” are faculty members of the Institute, GUIDELINES 4.1, The Institute shall give the following awards based on the contribution of the Associates to the Institute’s research excellence goals: Research Excellence Award — Individual Research Excellence Award — Department iii, Research Mentor Award iv. Special Recognition Awards 4.2. The awards shall be open to all Associates and Departments. 4.3. In general, the Associates shall only be evaluated based on their work in the service of the Institute or when the work is clearly associated with the Institute. 4.4. Research excellence will be evaluated based on the following criteri i. Impact of Research (including number of citations) ii, Completed Research iii, Publication in ISI and SCOPUS journals or other reputable refereed journals iv. Research Mentor Award shall be given to Associates whose student research has received external recognition. The award is given to recognize the Associates support in developing a research culture in the Institute. External recognition includes publication in international journals and awards to poster and paper presentations in local or international conferences. 4.6. Special Recognition Awards shall be given to Associates who have published at least 2 papers in international ISW/Scopus monitored publications within one academic year or have received international recognition for their contribution to research including number of citations based on IST and Scopus. 4.7. Special Recognition Awards shall also be given to Associates who have successfully applied and have been granted a patent due to their research projects. 5. PROCEDURES 5.1. The Research Coordinator shall compile the list of Associate accomplishments for the past two academic years after the midterms of the last trimester of the academic year. 5.2. Upon verification with the relevant department and Associates, the Research Coordinator and the Quality Assurance Coordinators, thru the Quality Assurance Director shall recommend the Research Excellence Awardees to the Senior Director for Academic Services. 5.3. The Senior Director for Academic Services shall endorse the list to the Executive Director. 5.4. The Executive Director shall approve the list of awardees. 5.5. All awardees shall be notified after approval by the Executive Director. 5.6. SEPARABILITY CLAUSE Any provision of this policy, which may thereafter be held invalid, shall not affect the remaining pro. ns. 7, REPEALING CLAUSE All policies and orders or parts thereof inconsistent herewith, are deemed repealed or modified accordingly. 8, EFFECTIVITY This policy shall take effect starting 2 Term, SY 2014-2015.
