Reflection: (This space will expand as you type.)

It was difficult to find articles about gamification in education since this is a new concept/strategy used in
the classroom. I realized that gamification is something that is used more by companies in order to
improve employees skills on the job or to collect more clients in the industry.
Several articles, some in Spanish, attempted to suggest the use of this strategy in the classrooms but the
research was still being developed.

Reflection:
Based on my readings, I developed the literature map. It was a challenge to identify subtopics about this
wide theme. I found the use of autotelic skill to be practical as part of my focus research.
9/30/201410/22/2014

Used feedback from other teachers for the rough draft and
map to complete the Literature Review.

Used feedback for rough draft

and map to complete the

Reflection:
The introduction and methodology was a challenge for me to write. I wanted to make it interesting using
data and statistics used by the companies. The introduction took more internet research while the
methodology took much planning. There were several instances in which I doubted the type of
information I should include since this was the open door to my action research.
11/1/2014

I found out all the requirements for the school system

when using student information in research. Asked for
formats and permissions to be signed by the principal and
my mentor.

PSC 1.3/ISTE 1c

(3 hours)
Reflection:
I spoke with administration to determine the requirements for research in the school system. The
requirements were not difficult, but there was a lot of paperwork to complete. I needed to notarize some of
the forms to accomplish with this requirements and be able to start my research.
11/10/2014

Completed CITI and emailed professor certificate

(3 hours)

PSC 5.2/ISTE 4b

Reflection:
The CITI course took time to complete, but was very easy and straightforward.

Reflection:
The research timeline provided the professor with the information and time span of the research project. It
was longer than what it was expected for the period of time but I adjusted later on.
2/3/20153/35/2015

Collected student data, analyzed data, I learned how to use

the data analysis tool in the Excel program. I created t-test
samples to use in research paper.

Reflection:
The collection and analysis of data was very time consuming. After many changes, I was able to finalize
the data and create the t-test tables to use in the paper. I learned how to use graphs applications online in
order to analyze results from my surveys and my SLO tests.

Reflection: I completed the Capstone presentation using Emaze. I narrated each slide and imported the
audio from the podcast. I included some of the interviews I had for my research and I copied from my
research key points that might help other people researching the same topic. My presentation is 15
minutes long. This part of the presentation was simple, but it was time consuming and required constant
dedication.
