Sportsmanship Workout Log

You will need to document six hours (or 360 minutes) to include a variety of physical activity. A
variety of physical activity can be defined as a minimum of three different activities. Students are
expected to log activities multiple times per week for each week enrolled in the HOPE course.
You cannot complete and receive credit for this HOPE course if you do not complete each of the
topic workout logs.
You may either copy and paste this document into a word processing program or print the page.
(You will need to add the necessary rows to the table below until you have a total of 360 minutes
of physical activity.)

Do you typically do physical activity alone or with others? Participating in sports, running a 5K,
playing games, or even going to the gym with other people is a great way to add fun to your
routine. Using the weekend section of your local newspaper, a calendar of events from a local
website, or other resources, you will identify several opportunities to participate in physical
activity with other people and set a goal to participate in at least one of these opportunities.
Then, search the web to identify a motivational quote you believe will help inspire you to reach
your goal. Include the source of your quote.
Identify at least three opportunities to participate in physical activity with other people in your
community.
1. I can walk around Broadway with my friends.
2. I could swim in the ocean at Huntington State Park
3. I could participate in a Color Run again

Goal: I aspire to _walk around Broadway with my friends accomplishing two tasks, PE and
socializing_ no later than _July 15, 2015__.

Example: I aspire to participate in the 5K race organized by my local YMCA no later


than August 21, 2015.

1. Did you meet your Sportsmanship goal? Explain why you did or why you did not meet
your goal.
I did meet my sportsmanship goal because I went to Broadway and saw a movie with my friends and then
we walked around after that.
2. Explain some of the physical and other benefits you experienced when doing physical
activities with other people.
I found it easier and more fun to do physical activity because I did not see it as work and time flew by.
3. Explain some of the physical and other challenges you experienced when doing physical
activities with other people.

A challenge I discovered was that it was hard to coordinate schedules and exercise frequently with my
friends.
4. What personal, social, and ethical behaviors were required by the activity you
participated in? Describe several rules or standards of etiquette you followed to display
responsible behavior.
The usual socializing behaviors were required. Some of these usual behaviors were that we were
respectful of each other, used our interpersonal skills, and demonstrated responsibility.
5. Did pursuing your Sportsmanship goal enhance your physical activity in any way? Why
or why not?
Pursuing my sportsmanship goal enhanced my physical activity by making it more fun.
