Crusades Research: A Practice CBA

Purpose:
To prepare students for the Washington State CBA on Causes of Conflict.

Learning Targets:
 I will identify causes of the Crusades and evaluate the most important
factor.
 I will learn to quote from sources other than the textbook within my
writing, using correct punctuation and sentence structure.
 I will learn to cite my research sources in MLA format.

Requirements:
 Write a brief INTRODUCTION – include a generalization on causes of
conflict
 LIST the background information on the Crusades (who, what, when,
where)
 LIST at least 3 causal factors that led to the Crusades with a brief
explanation of each
 Write a complete PARAGRAPH evaluating which causal factor was the
MOST important in this conflict with a complete explanation.
 Write a complete PARAGRAPH explaining how the Crusades impacted
ONE group of people (choose from Muslims, Christians, or Jews).
Provide background information about ONE individual from that group
and how the Crusades impacted this individual. Gather information on
this person from another source (books or websites) and include at
least one QUOTE from those sources.
 Write a brief CONCLUSION – include your analysis of whether this
conflict (the Crusades) could have been avoided, why, and how.
 Make a BIBLIOGRAPHY or WORKS CITED that lists all the resources
you used for this project, making sure to use MLA format.
