Capital Punishment
This topic was actually easy to choose for me out of the others and stands out a
Lot more. Im going to describe the morality of the death penalty along with how it
Pertains to the constitution. How it deters other criminals from committing such a crime.
If you take a life unlawfully or premeditating, or completely ruining a life through heinous
Crimes then your life deserves to be taken or ruin in the same matter. Criminals deserve
Whats coming to them, what goes around comes around. I mean how someone can
Senselessly take a life and not expect that they deserve the punishment they get. Today
We have one of the highest incarcerated citizens. Some for petty crimes, But the
Number of prison members serving life sentences for certain acts should just be
Executed, It would save taxpayers lots of money not having to pay for their three hot
Meals a day and all of the other expenses for keeping them locked in a cell.
Morality is defined as "the principles of right and wrong." As moral
Creatures, humans deserve praise for good deeds, and punishment for bad ones.
Punishment may range from a slap on the wrist to death, but the punishment must fit
The crime. The crimes of rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, murder, larceny and others
They are as equally wrong should be punished by capital punishment. Certain people
would argue that the death penalty is inherently immoral because governments should
never take human life, no matter what the provocation. But that is an opinion, not of actual
fact. The death penalty honors human dignity by treating the defendant as a free moral
person able to control his own destiny for good or for bad. Morally, it is wrong to simply
incarcerate someone for murder. A sentence of life in an airconditioned,

cableequipped prison where a person gets free meals three times a day, personal
recreation time, and regular visits with friends and family is a slap in the face of morality.
Simply because an execution method may result in pain, either by accident or as
an inescapable consequence of death, does not establish the sort of 'objectively
intolerable risk of harm that qualifies as cruel and unusual. Kentucky has adopted a
method of execution believed to be the most humane available, one it shares with 35
other States. The US Supreme Court has for over 200 years, repeatedly declared the
death penalty to be constitutional . It based its decisions on two Amendments to the
Constitution that specifically mention the death penalty the 5th Amendment to the
Constitution says: "No person shall be deprived of life without due process of law."
the 14th Amendment says: "No state shall deprive any person of life without due
process of law." Plus the Supreme Court noted that when the Eighth Amendment was
written regarding cruel and unusual punishment, capital punishment was a common
sanction in every State.
Thirdly it deters criminals, statistics show us that the death penalty will deter
criminals from committing acts that deserve the death penalty. People fear nothing more
than death. Life in prison is less feared than death, Criminals prefer it much more than
death otherwise, they would not try to be sentenced to life in prison instead of death
Therefore, a life sentence must be more prefered than a death sentence. And we must
execute murderers as long as it is merely possible that their execution protects citizens
from future murder. When given the choice between a life sentence and capital
punishment criminals more frequently will choose a life behind bars then their body in
the ground, why give these criminals the luxury of prison when they deserve death.

Criminals don't want to die so often they won't commit a crime which can get them killed
themselves. which can reduce the deaths by crimes. If you deem the capital punishment
wrong and get rid of it, then i personally fear along with others that crime rate will
increase.
It provides closure for victims There are many victims of a single murder.
The criminal gets caught, tried, and convicted, and it is understood that the punishment
will be severe. But the person he or she has killed no longer has a part to play in this.
Unfortunately, the murderer has deprived their family and friends of a loved one. Their
grief begins with the murder. It may not end with the murderers execution, but the
execution can give a feeling of relief at no longer having to think about the ordeal a
feeling which often fails to arise while the murderer still lives on. I know if it was me i
would want closer like the death penalty, I feel it would really help me cope with a loss
of a loved one, knowing that that person can never emotionally or physically harm me or
my friends and family.
In the year 2002, there were at least 1,526 people executed in 31
countries and at least 3,248 people were sentenced to death in 67 countries. in addition,
81 percent of the executions took place in china, iran, and the USA. those facts are just
from 2002 and it seems that the number of people executed during this time was a large
number. Capital punishment helps cut down the population of inmates on death row.
Less than one percent of murderers are sentenced to death, while only two percent of
death row inmates are executed. The reason that is relevant is because having this
many people on death row drains the taxpayers money. Today more than 75 inmates
on death row have sat more than 20 years. If an inmate has been on death for over 20

years then that person deserves to die because that person is draining the taxpayers
money. In may of 2000, a recent study on the death penalty found that 65 percent of the
US supports the death penalty. With that amount of people supporting the death
penalty, there should be no problem putting murderers to death because the majority
approves of it.
Many opponents present, as fact, that the cost of the death penalty is so
expensive at least $2 million per case?, that we must choose life without parole at a
cost of $1 million for 50 years. Predictably, these pronouncements may be entirely false.
Justice for All estimates that life without parole cases will cost $1.2 million$3.6 million
more than equivalent death penalty cases. There is no question that the up front costs
of the death penalty are significantly higher than for equivalent life without parole cases.
There also appears to be no question that, over time, equivalent life without parole
cases are much more expensive.Than death penalty cases. Opponents ludicrously
claim that the death penalty costs, over time, 310 times more than life without parole.
So my argument shows the facts about capital punishment and how its good
rather than bad and I based my argument on facts rather than opinion. Capital
punishment is simple and the right thing to do if the crimes are right. Im not going to
change my mind about my opinions and I wont change anyone else beliefs and opinions
on what the choose to agree with or disagree with. I don't like arguing with people on
matters such as these but if someone wants to have a respectable conversation on this
matter I will listen to them with full acknowledgment towards their reasoning and I expect them
to listen to me with the same respect I show them, but with the research
i've done and the beliefs I hold I doubt I will ever change my mind on capital
Punishment.
