    Afteroptingforstatusquoinpolicyrates,ReserveBankGovernorRaghuramRajanonTuesdaysaidanymorecutwilldependonfurther
    transmissionofpreviousratecutsbybanks,softeningininflationandprogressofmonsoon.
    Wearelookingwhethertherecentincreaseininflationistemporaryandwhetherthemonsoonwillcontinuetobenearnormal.Theoilprice
    developmentisverybeneficialandwewillawaitgreatertransmissionofourpastactionsbybankswhilewelookandmonitordevelopments
    foremergingroom,Dr.Rajantoldreportersduringthecustomarypostpolicyinteractionwithjournalistsherethismorning.
    Inthepolicystatement,Dr.RajansaidtheRBIcontinuestohaveanaccommodativestance,whichwasadoptedinJanuarythisyearwitha
    surpriseratecut.
    Despitefavourablebaseeffect,headlineinflationsurgedtoninemonthhighof5.40percentinJunewhichresultedinexpectations,
    especiallyatindividuallevel,gettingelevated,RBIsaid.
    Inflationaryexpectationsdogetalteredconsiderablybycertainsalientitemssuchasfood,milkandvegetables.Giventhat,yes,it(elevated
    expectations)isaconcernbutoneshouldkeepthatinperspective,Rajansaid.
    Speakingontheoccassion,RBIDeputyGovernorUrijitPatelsaid,atthemoment,therisksoninflationarebalancedbutexudedconfidence
    thatthecentralbankwillbeabletomeettheJanuary,2016targetof6percentwithinflationcomingbelowit.
    However,thepolicydocumentpeggedtheJanuarypriceindexat5.8percent,whichis20basispointsbelowtheAprilandJuneestimate.
    Withwholesalepriceinflationcontinuingtotreadinthenegativezonefortheeighthconsecutivemonth,andcallsforratecutsthereofgetting
    shriller,Dr.RajansaidtheRBIpreferstoformulateitspoliciesbasedonCPIwhichgivesabetterpictureofthepinchattheindividuallevel.
    Itsconvenienttolookatthewholepriceindex,thenyoucandoallyourworkoninflationmanagementbasedonfactorsfromoutsideon
    whichwehavenocontrol.
    Butifwereallywanttomanageinflation,wehavetolookatthesumtotalofinflation,especiallyinflationthatconcernsconsumers,which
    determineshouseholdsavings,wagepressures,Dr.Rajansaid.
