METHOD STATEMENT FOR INSTALLATION OF CONCEALED PVC CONDUIT

OBJECTIVE
To define the methods and controls employed to ensure that the overall work of the
installation of concealed PVC Conduit for Client is carried out in a controlled and
systematic manner that in all respects shall conform to the specified requirements.

Client Requirement

HANDLING AND STORAGE


4.1

Materials at site shall be stored at designated area and shall be properly


protected from rain or water seepage.

4.2

Materials shall be stored without direct contact with the ground and shall be
placed on timbers, bricks or pallets to prevent materials from contact to
water on the ground, should there be any.

5.0

WORK METHODOLOGY
5.1

For PVC conduit piping embedded in slab area


5.1.1 The conduit pipe shall be installed so as not to affect the soundness
of the building structure.
5.1.2 The edge of the conduit pipe shall be made smooth by reamer etc.
5.1.3 The concealed boxes shall be firmly fixed to construction material.
5.1.4 The total number of bend along one conduit pipe route from one box
to another shall be limited to maximum 4 nos, and total angle of the
bend shall be not exceed 270 degrees.
5.1.5 The conduit pipe embedded in concrete shall be firmly tied to re-bars
by steel wire so as to stay in position during concrete casting.
5.1.6 The conduit pipe embedded in concrete shall be provided with a
reasonable concrete coverage, from 25mm to 30mm around the pipe.
5.1.7 The inside of the concealed box embedded in concrete shall be filled
with a paper or waste cloth or polyform etc before form work.

5.2

For PVC conduit piping embedded in brick wall


5.2.1 The conduit pipe shall be installed in accordance to item 5.1.1 to 5.1.6
above.
5.2.2 The small groove shall be provided with cutter and chisel to
accommodate the electrical conduit pipe and outlet box .
5.2.3 The electrical conduit pipe and outlet box shall be installed in the
small groove in the wall and fixed to the brick wall by steel wire and
concrete nail.
5.2.4 The inside of the outlet box shall be filled with paper or waste cloth etc
prior to mortar patching up.
5.2.5 The electrical conduit pipe and outlet shall be embedded with mortar
while leaving the surface of the patching up mortar lower than the final
wall finishing surface.

INSPECTION AND TESTING


6.1

Carry out visual inspection as detailed in Visual Inspection Report Of


Conduit Installation.( Refer to Appendix 1 ).
