Self-Assessment

Assessment is a number of steps taken by academic institutions to identify the real


features of instruction and education across their programs, and compare them with the
institution’s ambitions. Self-assessment means that it is the academic institution that
performs assessment by itself with a view to identifying the reality of its programs. It also
means that assessment is not an aim in itself but it is rather an essential means for
developing programs and identifying the strong and weak points and potentialities.
It is a continuous based on a specific system by judging the efficiency and value of a
certain academic program in a given field within the objectives outlined. It is also geared
to determine the input versus the output to develop the strong points and remedy the
weak points.

Assessment Objective

Assessment aims to examine how far the programs achieve their purpose in terms of
enhancing student learning and skill development. Academic assessment focuses on the
programs and their output. It gives information on the syllabus success in providing
students with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required for successfully completing
the tasks assigned to them after graduation in a way compatible with the university
mission and objectives.

• Interpersonal and employment skills such as team work and writing skills
• Attitudes and moral ( professional and behavioral) values such as honesty and
faithfulness
