StandardsBasedGradingPolicyandExplanation
Rationale:StandardsBasedgradingseekstoprovidegradesthatareconsistent,
accurate,meaningful,andmostofallthatsupportlearning(OConnor56).Twotypesof
assessmentsareusedtosupportlearning.Formativeassessmentsareusedforstudent
learningtoprovidefeedbackandtimeforimprovement.Summativeassessmentsare
assessmentsoflearning,usedtoshowstudentachievement.StandardsBasedgrading
linksbothoftheseassessmenttypestoindividuallearningstandardsthatareevaluated
basedonquality,notcompletion.
