options
Travelling Solo.
Yes you can make a difference!
As an individual you can help with the day to day running
of the orphanage and work with the orphans to help them
with what they need. If you have skills then you could do
even more. This will depend on you and what you are
willing to share. Teacher, carpenter, farmer? You can
help!

Groups
This is where the help can really start!
As a group you can make a real change by working as a
team to help the orphanage reach its goals. The money
raised by the group will partly go towards paying for the
usual costs. However the majority will go towards
developing a project. Would you like to help with a farm,
youth club, School? This is all possible!

What are the benefits if you go as a group?

Group prices decrease depending on the size of the group
As a group you will be able to develop a programme around the needs of the
orphanage as well as your needs. We believe that this can be an exchange of
skills, culture, learning and experience.
For example:
A youth group may want to work with the young people to learn from each
other and learn about the cultures and area as well as helping to develop a
youth club.
A school group may want to develop the possibilities of linking into a school
with the orphanage and sharing skills.
A university group may want to share their skills as trainee doctors, nurses ,
youth workers, teachers among m any other things.
These are all possibilities that we would like to work with groups to develop
projects that both help the orphanage as wellas the development of the
groups participants that will help them in their lives

The

Visas and vaccinations

Flights

You will need to book your own flights for

the trip. However we work with a charity
travel agent that gives very competitive
prices and a luggage allowance of 48KG.
We will support you in the purchase of
flights and dependent on your
requirements will ensure you and/or your
group is sorted for transport to and from
the Aiport within Ghana

You will need to organize your and pay for your own Visas
and Vaccinations.

However this is not as costly or as complicated as you might
think. We have a full welcome pack available to all volunteers
who sign up to the project with comprehensive information
on what is required and the costs.

To a lot of people most of the vaccinations are free however
some do cost. This is likely to change dependent on the area
you live in.

As part of our support to you we wil help you with any
paperwork that you are unsure about and will be happy to
add any information reguired to any doctors that require it as
well as an invitation letter for your visa.

A full DBS form will be required to take part as a volunteer. We will take forms from local councils or if you require one we can also
provide one free of charge to anyone who requires it. NB: certain criminal convictions may mean you will be unable take part.

Youth
Sports
Groups
Clubs
Youth groups can benefit from developing through
accreditation and the various awards that are available around
the country to develop. The projects can become part of
several modules of lots of different accredited awards. Young
people gain a huge amount from the informal and non-formal
learning that takes place throughout the project. This includes,
budgeting, teamwork, community development, letter writing
and many more.

Sports clubs can be a great help to the orphanage and the
community. The skills of the coaches and people involved can
be invuable to a small community who have infrastructure of
sports clubs in the Area. If groups were to go from a sports club
a project can be developed in line with the sport you are
involved in.

Educational
Benefits

Throughout the project duration a huge number of

educational possibilities can be linked to the trip. Some of these
can be linked to formal education and others can be linked to non-formal
and informal education. These can be tailored and guided by our youth
workers and the group requirements.
Some examples include:

Duke of Edinburgh Award: This links into both the community section as
well as the Gold residential section of your award. Dependent on the
group and potential extra support from your Duke of Edinburgh Award
leaders this could also become part of a Gold expedition

Schools: Dependent on the levels required we believe this can be linked
to modules in different elements of accredited work within the
curriculum and through partnership we can develop potentials for maths,
English, science, Physical Education and Design technology.

Universities: This can include international placements for students who
are looking to develop their skills in different environments. With youth
and Community education courses we have several qualified staff that
are able to facilitate any placements. Other options from different
courses can easily considered and discussed to ensure requirements and
needs are met.
