Dear Students, Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to the 2015-2016 academic school year. My name is Ms. Ferguson and I am the 10th grade Chemistry teacher.
I look forward to working collaboratively with students and parents as we navigate through this academic school year.

Although the curriculum may be rigorous and challenging, I am confident that your child will be able to rise to the
occasion. I will provide the very best instruction, curriculum, procedures, and resources. I trust that you and your child
will support and continue the legacy of achieving academic excellence. All information regarding the course can be

Class Rules
Read all directions thoroughly and carefully
Eating in the lab is NOT allowed
Stay seated unless instructed otherwise
Place everything back in its designated place
Electronics NOT allowed unless instructed to use
Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times
Talk at appropriate times

Measurement/Dimensional Analysis
Properties and Phases of Matter
Periodic Table/Periodic Trends
Atomic Structure/Atomic Theory
Stoichiometry/ Gas Laws

Ladder of Consequences:
1. Warning
2. Demerit
3. Referral

Remember: 3 demerits = Detention


Cell phones are NOT allowed in the Hallways. I will
directly state when phones can be used in class,
otherwise:
I will confiscate on sight and send to Dean
- Check Handbook for information about cell
phone retrieval

Student Expectations:

Students are expected to be punctual and prepared for class EVERYDAY


Homework is MANDATORY
Students are to maintain academic integrity
If a student needs extra help, they may come during office hours or by appointment
Students will NOT be able to use Phone/IPOD as a calculator

Homework Policy:
- Homework is due at the beginning of each class period as each student walks in
- If homework is not turned in, student will receive a 0 and a demerit for the missed assignment
- Any work turned in late will receive a maximum of 50% credit (Not due to excused absence)
o ALL late assignments must have a Pink Slip attached and parent signature to receive credit
- If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to make up any missed assignments
o If a student is absent 2 days, then he/she will have 2 days to make up the assignment (After that time
the assignment is late)
- Late work is not accepted if turned in later than a week after the original due date

If you are absent on the day of a lab:

o Click on the appropriate assignment and complete it

available during these times. There are FREE public libraries and FREE pass
for museums in our neighborhoods, the Internet (any topic can be googled
to provide additional instruction), fellow students, and other adults that are
available to assist in your success. I will be delighted to arrange extra help
sessions for anyone who needs help. Good students seek help sooner
rather than later. SUCCESS IS THE ONLY OPTION!
