Dear students and parents!

This year we will learn Geometry. My expectations are that it will bring us much
fun and great knowledge for the whole our lives. Implicitly or explicitly we apply
Geometry every day and everywhere. This is the main reason we need it.
For our lessons we need the following supplies

Classroom rules are the same as everywhere:

follow all school rules
respect self, others and property at all times
Be seated and prepared for class when the bell rings
No gum, No drinks (only water), No food, No electronics, cells off
In the case of misconduct the following consequences will be enforced student
conference, contact to parents and to the counselor.
Grading
Grades will be issued on the basis of the completed assignments
Warm-ups, classwork 5% of the 9-week average
Homework ...5
Quiz.....35
Test. 50
Binder check....... 5
Quizzes and tests graded below 70 must be retaken during one week. The final
new score will be calculated by the formula Fnew=(G1+G2)/2 if (G1+G2)/2 >70
or Fnew=max(70, Fnew) if (G1+G2)/2 <70 but G2>70. Only one retake is allowed
after the tutorial. Assignments turned in after one week are going to be graded
not above 70 points and after the PR not above 50.
Please, keep all your works in the binder. Have the following sections in your
binder for 1) warm ups, 2) notes and class works, 3) home works and
4)quizzes and tests. Separate sections by special dividers.

EXPECTATONS
My expectations are that each student will be provided the opportunity to
be successful in a structured learning environment. It is assumed that the
student has to learn the material from previous math courses and has retained
the majority of it. Each course in math is basically the sequel to previous ones.
There is no real mystery to being successful in math. Three words to base your
approach on that will lead you to be successful in this course are: 1) deduction,
2) preparation and 3) retention.
Students are expected to come in the class before the lesson begins.
They should immediately get ready for the lesson take all necessary stuff out
and arrange it on the desk. Pencils have to be sharpened before the beginning of
the lesson. Warm ups are supposed to begin without special or additional
reminders from the teacher.
It is expected that ALL students will do ALL assignments in the class, then
they will repeat the stuff at home, and do homework as well. Students are
expected to come in the class prepared. That means 1) students have to bring
writing tools (enough pencils, pens, and sharpeners); 2) have completed
homework; 3) keep all papers in 3 ring binders with dividers. Students should use
only and only graph paper and have enough graphed sheets for assignments.
Absences can not the reason to skip assignments. If a student was
absent for some reason, he/she should come for the tutorial or learn the missed
stuff on his/her own. All missed written assignments have to be turned in not later
that the cut off day. Official days for the tutorial are Tuesdays and Thursdays
after school. But if a student needs help, he/she should feel free to see me after
school with their questions or problems. It is urgently recommended to come for
the tutorial before retake the quiz or the test. Before to retake some assignment a
student has to show his/her evidence they studied and reviewed the content of
the assignment.
The Pearson Geometry on-line textbook will be used. Students are
expected to read this book at home on the regular basis. It is also important to
reread and repeat previous sections covered in the class as well.
It is expected that students will behave in a respectful, courteous,
disciplined mode while in the classroom and in the campus. All school rules will
be enforced. Sleeping or any off-task behavior will not be accepted. If not, the
rules and policies will be enforced. In the case of misconduct, I will discuss the
matter with the student privately; secondly, parents and/or counselors will be
contacted; finally, the matter will be referred to an assistant principal.
I the case of questions or necessary additional information students are
supposed to raise their hand and wait for the teacher. Students also have
opportunities and rights to talk to the teacher privately regarding their problems in
the hall way or after school. Please feel free to communicate!

Assignments: All problems from class/home assignments have to be solved

completely with explanations of main steps of the solution. For the problem under
consideration, the student should draw a picture on the top left side of the paper
and a brief explanation of the problem on the right side. Afterwards, the student
should include step-by-step solutions while mentioning math operations,
properties of figures, drawings and so on. At the end of the solved problem the
student should indicate the distinct answer with the word Answer.

Rubric for the grading: Each assignment worth 100 points. For each
inappropriate completion of the work, some points are subtracted as follows.
Points subtracted
All problems solved ..0
Skipped problem. ....10
There is an accurate picture ...0
There is a non-accurate picture...5
There is no picture.......10
Explanations contain step by step thorough details.... 0
Explanation is brief, without details..5
No explanation..10
There is a correct answer....... 0
Answer is incorrect...... 10
The word Answer is missed...5

Students are welcome to discuss with the teacher their grades and do comments
to defend her/his work.

Quizzes/Tests: If a quiz/test score is below 70, the student can retake this
assignment. First, the student should to fill in the request to retake the
assignment and explain the reason she/he received the current grade. Then, the
students should make corrections to the quiz/test. The request has to be signed
with the student and her/his parents. Afterwards the student has to study the
content of the quiz/test and then come for a tutorial and explain to the teacher
his/her corrections. After the conversation with the teacher, the student will
retake the assignment. Retests should be taken no later than one week after the
assignment was posted.
