TYPE 81 RAM PREVENTER
The Type 81 Ram Type BOP is comparable with Shaffer's Sentinel II and WSI
Duke style blowout preventers.
The Type 81 Manual is available in 7-1/16 X 3M & 9 X 3M pressure ratings.
Type 81 Hydraulic is available in 7-1/16 X 3M, 7-1/16 X 5M, 9 X 3M and
9 X 5M pressure ratings.
Available in Single, Double and Triple Configurations.
Type 81 Ram Blocks are available in the following sizes:
7-1/16 X 3M - CSO (Blind) to 5-1/2" - 1.660" to 2-7/8" Offset
7-1/16 X 5M - CSO (Blind) to 5-1/2" - 1.660" to 2-7/8" Offset
9 X 3M/5M - CSO (Blind) to 7-5/8" - 1.660" to 3-1/2" Offset
TYPE 81-84 ANNURAM

The Type 81-84 Annuram BOP is comparable to attaching a Hydril GK style
Annular BOP on top of a single or double Shaffer Sentinel BOP or WSI style
single or double BOP.
The Type 81-84 Annuram BOP is available in 7-1/16 X 3M, 7-1/16 X 5M,
9 X 3M and 9 X 5M pressure ratings.
Note: 7-1/16 X 5M Type 84 Annuram Annular requires specifc Unit & Seal Kit.
The Type 82 Ram BOP is comparable with Shaffer's LWS preventer.

The Type 82 Hydraulic Preventer is available in 7-1/16 X 3M, 7-1/16 X 5M,

TOWNSENDS Type 39 & Type 48 Ram Rubbers are

molded so they can be installed with either side
facing up.
TOWNSENDS Type 390 & 480 Ram Rubbers have a
metal spring molded into one side of the back strap
to force the rubber to flow upward when under
pressure. This Ram Rubber can only be installed
one way.

TOWNSEND Type 82 Ram Rubbers are designed to fit Shaffer 71/16 x 3M, 5M, 10M, and 15M LWS Blowout Preventers.
TOWNSENDS specially formulated 82 compound has been field
tested and has proven to be superior to other styles available in
the marketplace. TOWNSEND has specifically designed this Ram
Rubber for long endurance under high pressure service
operations.
TOWNSEND also offers 7-1/16 offset and dual offset Ram
Rubbers upon request. Both Ram Rubbers in a pair of dual
offset Ram Rubbers have the same part number. Single offset
Ram Rubbers have a different part number for the left and the
right Ram Rubber.

TOWNSENDS Variable Bore Ram Rubbers (VBR) are designed to seal around a variety of pipe sizes.
TOWNSENDS also manufactures the VBR Ram Block in both 11 and 13-5/8 sizes to fit the "ST" Blowout Preventers.
TOWNSENDS Finger Insert design rotates as the hydraulic pressure is applied and the Ram Blocks begin to close allowing
the Ram Rubber to seal around a variety of pipe sizes and eliminating changing Ram Rubbers each time you change pipe
size. TOWNSENDS VBR Rubbers have been field tested to confirm durability.

TOWNSEND manufactures all the replacement parts for most

major Blowout Preventers, such as TOWNSEND, Cameron,
Shaffer, Hydril, and WSI.
To simplify ordering replacement parts, TOWNSEND has
assembled Bonnet Rebuild Kits for Blowout Preventers.
These kits consist of all the necessary components to rebuild a
Blowout Preventer Bonnet, excluding the Door Seal, which is
sold separately.
TOWNSENDS Kits consist of all the ORings, Lip Seals,
Springs, and necessary Washers to rebuild a Bonnet. Major
metal goods, such as Ram Shafts, Locking Screws, Pistons,
and major brass components usually need not be replaced,
and are offered separately.
TOWNSENDS Bonnet Rebuild Kit cannot be compared with kits offered by OEMs. TOWNSENDS Kits exclude major expense items that
usually do not need replacing.
Each TOWNSEND Bonnet Rebuild Kit comes with an exploded view of the Bonnet with a listing of parts included in each Kit.

Metal spring inserts and an Elastomeric Fabric are molded in specific Door
Seals to correspond to OEM requirements.

TOWNSEND manufactures replacement Packing Units to fit all Hydril GK
Annular Blowout Preventers. TOWNSENDS replacement Packing Units are
available in both natural and synthetic compounds. TOWNSENDS Packing Unit
compounds have been developed specifically for longevity, but are flexible
enough for complete closure in open hole situations.
TOWNSENDS Packing Units are tested before sale using API test standards in
both open hole conditions and on drill pipe. All Packing Units are subject to a
API drift test after performing Annular test on rubber to confirm that they will
open back up to standard size.
TOWNSEND is not just a rubber company, we take pride in the fact that we

ANUFLEX

(PATENTED)
TOWNSENDS ANUFLEX Packing Unit has a group of patented

curved metal segments, spaced apart at regular intervals
imbedded in the Unit, instead of the conventional one piece
segments furnished by other manufacturers. TOWNSENDS
unique hinge design allows the Unit to conform and flex with a
lesser amount of resistance than conventional Units, which
allows for more opens and closures, and a longer life cycle.
The pivotability of the upper portion of each segment, relative
to the base plate, limits the force exertable by the element on a
drill string component.
UPPER
SEGMENT
The upward, pivotal motion of the heel portion of the base

plate feeds rubber upwards and radially inwards to compensate
for wear of rubber in the bore walls of the Unit, where most
conventional Units begin to fail.
Other Annular Units have fixed metal segments molded into
the rubber in a circular hemispherical cavity. The segments are
pushed upwards by hydraulic piston pressure in a spherical
cavity forcing rubber to cold flow inwards effecting a seal
around the drill pipe. Since the metal segment is fixed, the
upper, inner edge of the fixed segment can make contact with
drill pipe and can damage it in certain conditions.

are moveable with respect to one another. The freedom of one
part with respect to the other limits the force which the metal
segments may exert on drill pipe as the hydraulic piston moves
the sealing element into a closed position.

TOWNSENDS ANUFLEX Units function particularly well during

stripping operation when the hinged segment allows the rubber to cold
flow more freely than conventional segments.
The design of the segment allows the smaller portion of each segment
base plate to pivot, functioning as a toe plate, supporting and directing
the cold flow of rubber upwards towards the sealing bore of the
element. This action increases the longitudinal length of the seal,
greatly improving the capability of the seal to contain higher pressures
than standard segmented units.

TOWNSEND Rubber Coated Ring Gaskets are standard API Ring
Gaskets molded with a BUNA-N rubber coating to produce a test style
gasket that can be used numerous times where a standard gasket can be
used only once.
TOWNSENDs Rubber Coated Ring Gasket can be used where
damaged flanges have a sealing problem, if the damage is minor.

Saf-T-Slide is designed for use as a quick escape device from a structure, tower or derrick in
case of an emergency. Saf-T-Slide is constructed of materials such as Aluminum Wheels and
Brass Braking Device to prevent sparks when in an H2S gas environment. The Saf-T-Slide
Brake is spring loaded to lock any time the device is not in use. The descent from the structure
is controlled by a Hand Brake which the operator controls. The Saf-T-Slide is easily maintained
and operates in all types of weather.

TOWNSEND offers an adjustable weight Derrick Climber which is used as a tool to assist in
climbing derrick ladders by offsetting the climbers weight with a Counter Balance.
TOWNSENDs Derrick Climber kit includes Counter Balance, Safety Chain and Hook, Block,
Derrick Belt, 350 of 5/16 Cable and all necessary component parts to install. TOWNSENDs
Derrick Climber can also be used in other industries that require long climbs up and down
ladders, such as cargo holds in ships.
TOWNSEND MUD SAVER BUCKET

TOWNSENDs Mud Bucket is designed to reduce hazardous conditions caused by slippery rig floors, and
also reduces the loss of drilling muds. Each TOWNSEND Mud Bucket consists of Mud Bucket, Mud
Bucket End Seals (cut to specific size Drill Pipe) and a 4 x 4 Discharge Hose. TOWNSENDs Mud
Bucket Side Seals, Side Seal Strips and Rubber End Seals are interchangeable with Oteco style Mud
Buckets. Mud Buckets are constructed to open and close with ease.
TOWNSEND BALL INJECTOR GUN

TOWNSEND offers a Ball Injector Gun that is used in the well service industry as a means of
facturing fluid to all of a wells perforations. TOWNSENDs Ball Gun features a Manual Hand
Crank with a Ball Counter. The Ball Gun is available with 12 to 36 Gun barrels. It is
available in a variety of sizes and pressure ratings up to 10M psi, and a choice of different style
bases.
