Skid beams should have gussets at support points. The following are typical vibration levels that apply to reciprocating compres- sors. These values are guide- lines only. Actual vibration limits must be related to stress levels, which can be measured with strain gage equipment. In general, if the vibration levels are below the guidelines mentioned above, the stress levels are well below the fatigue stress limit of the equipment. + For tandem cylinders on machines smaller than JGC, Table 3-1 values may be increased by the length ratio (measuring from the frame wall) of the out- board cylinder to the inboard cylinder (see figure below). Calculted vibration limits for tandem cylinders must not exceed 1 in/sec.
