Boosting
the
Powers
of
Readers

Guided Reading can be one of the most

powerful teaching practices implemented in the
classroom. Not only does it naturally provide
differentiation, but allows for individual
teaching opportunities. Learn specific
strategies that will build students strength in
decoding, fluency, determining meaning of
unknown words, and comprehension.
Participants will leave with practical teaching
ideas that can be implemented immediately into
guided reading instruction.
Location: Volunteer State Community College

Debbie Rosenow, is the Lead Literacy Coach for Hamilton
County Schools in Chattanooga, TN, and a part-time literacy
consultant. She has been a classroom teacher for grades K-9,
served as a school-based literacy coach to support teachers in
improving student growth in reading and writing, and now
works at the district level supporting literacy coaches in their
work. She was trained by Dr. Richardson and consulted with
her in the development of the Teachers Guide for Next Steps in
Guided Reading Assessment (Gr. 3-6).
