Created and implemented a two month summer writing program to teach and strengthen
higher level writing skills for honors and pre-honors level 8th to 10th grade students. Emphasis
was placed on English fundamentals, editing, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. Stu
dents were taught to deconstruct both the essay and their argument into component parts, while
maintaining a holistic awareness of their purpose.
